Background A larger IT project is underway to build a completely new IT infrastructure within a public organization. In connection with this, a consultant resource is requested with the competence to configure and install Windows servers. The work includes integrations with VMware, SCCM, and WSUS, as well as backup solutions. Experience with one or more automation and management platforms such as Ansible, Terraform, Saltstack, and/or Puppet is desirable.

Assignment Description The assignment involves assisting the organization's internal team as an external reinforcement resource. As a consultant, you will work on the design and development of operating system distribution and create a customized distribution of the Windows operating system. You will be responsible for creating processes and routines for regular updates, maintenance, and management. It also includes ensuring that the configuration of the operating system meets high security requirements. Regular testing, quality assurance, and documentation are a natural part of the work. You are also expected to act as a technical advisor and provide support to the organization's IT division.

Role and Responsibilities

Design and Development of OS Distribution: Develop a customized Windows operating system distribution that meets the company's specific needs. This includes selecting components, features, security settings, and integrating with the company's infrastructure.

Management and Updates: Create processes and routines for regular updates and maintenance of the OS distribution, including security patches and performance optimizations.

Security: Ensure that the configuration of the operating system meets the highest possible security standards. This includes implementing appropriate security policies, monitoring, and responding to security threats.

Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct extensive testing of the OS distribution to ensure compatibility with the company's hardware and applications, as well as identify and address any errors or issues.

Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation for the OS distribution, including installation guides, configuration settings, and troubleshooting procedures.

Support and Advisory: Act as an expert resource for the company's IT team and users, providing technical support related to the operating system and contributing advice for best practices.

REQUIREMENTS 1. Completed high school education. 2. At least 5 years of work experience in Windows server.

3. At least 2 years of experience configuring Windows servers from scratch.

4. At least 2 years of experience with automated installations and management, e.g., backup, patching, configuration.

MERIT: 1. At least 1 year of work experience with WSUS configuration

2. At least 1 year of work experience with on-prem solutions for Windows servers 3. At least 1 year of work experience implementing Windows hardening

4. At least 1 year of work experience documenting technical solutions
