Neurology Department 25 is an acute care unit that provides highly specialized care with the southern healthcare region as its catchment area. We care for patients who need urgent stroke care in our stroke observation room. We provide thrombolysis treatment and manage the aftercare of patients who have undergone thrombectomy. The number of stroke patients undergoing thrombectomy has increased significantly in recent years, and there is no indication that this trend will stop. From our stroke observation room, an alarm team consisting of a nurse, nursing assistant, and doctor responds to patients either in the emergency department or directly in radiology, known as a direct alarm pathway. In addition to our observation room, we have two care teams on the unit, one of which is our student team (NST). We have a total of 18 care beds.

We are also specialized in the investigation and treatment of a range of other neurological diagnoses such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Guillain-Barré syndrome, and Myasthenia gravis.

We are located at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Lund in newly built facilities with only single rooms for patients, equipped with ceiling lifts and modern equipment in each room. At Neurology Department 25, we focus on care and knowledge about diseases and injuries of the nervous system. You will work in a team, learn new exciting things, and develop in your professional role while contributing to the development of our exciting operations. The department invests heavily in competence development where KTM (competence and service model) plays a key role.

- What I find most rewarding as a nurse is the opportunity to make a difference for the patient through the treatments we specialize in. I also have the chance to deepen my knowledge in neurology through further education and training, says Dren, who is a nurse in the department.

- The most interesting part of working in the department is seeing the patient before treatment and then providing aftercare and following the patient's improvement. From receiving the patient as a Save the Brain alarm to planning discharge, it is a great variety that I enjoy. I came to the department as a newly graduated nurse and have developed a lot within my profession.

After a tailored introduction of six weeks, you will work as a nurse in a team together with nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and doctors. If you are new to the role of a nurse, you will initially work on the care unit, and when you feel ready, you will step into the stroke observation room. There is also the possibility to work as an alarm nurse.

We value cross-border collaboration between inpatient and outpatient care, where we, together with you, want to create opportunities for competence development and further development based on your experiences. We invest in increased competence development for nurses. Newly graduated nurses are offered an introductory program that includes lectures, clinical skills training, and access to a mentor. For nurses who want to specialize, in addition to educational benefits in prioritized areas, a number of searchable educational positions are offered where education is combined with clinical work for two years. Over the past two years, we have been working according to KTM, and we were one of the first departments to start the nurse's career ladder.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare and who has language skills in Swedish equivalent to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale. Previous experience in neurology and/or emergency care is considered desirable.
