The area of operations (VO) forensic psychiatry is part of Psychiatry Skåne and consists of forensic psychiatric units in Trelleborg, Malmö, Hässleholm, and Helsingborg. We currently have about 300 employees.

At the Forensic Psychiatry Department 26 in Helsingborg, there is room for 14 patients, and the department also includes an observation unit with 2 care places. We are the only forensic psychiatric unit in Skåne that has all assignments and the only one that receives detainees with full restrictions.

Our mission is multifaceted and involves caring for patients sentenced to forensic psychiatric care. The patient group varies; we have patients who are to move to their own homes, detainees awaiting trial, and those detained or sentenced by the Police Authority or the Prison and Probation Service who need psychiatric care around the clock. Our care places are primarily intended for patients sentenced to forensic psychiatric care, and we also have detention places in Helsingborg. Patients may, in some cases, stay with us for long periods, which gives us unique opportunities to follow them during the treatment and rehabilitation process. The work is always based on the individual needs of the patient.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse with us, you have a leading role and are responsible for care. You collaborate and cooperate with patients and their relatives, care neighbors, and relevant authorities such as the prison service and police. The position also includes contributing to the continuous development of the unit. With us, you are offered an engaging and exciting job with varied tasks.

You work in a team consisting of nurses and caregivers. The team also includes a doctor, psychologist, occupational therapist, social worker, and medical secretary. We strive for close collaboration with social services and other psychiatric services in network work around our patients. Team collaboration, where different competencies and experiences enrich and complement each other, is fundamental to our working method. Our operations are characterized by diversity and high competence, and we offer you a developing job on a professional and personal level. We have worked extensively on the approach to patients in the unit, resulting in almost nonexistent threats and violent situations.

Region Skåne invests in increased competence development for nurses. For newly graduated nurses, there is a clinical foundation year that includes lectures, clinical skills training, and access to a mentor. For nurses who wish to specialize, in addition to educational benefits in prioritized areas, a number of searchable educational positions are offered where education is combined with clinical work over two years.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to work within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale are required. If you have further education or previous experience working in psychiatry and/or experience in forensic psychiatry, it is an advantage for the position. We would also like you to have experience with the Melior journal system. Additionally, it is meritorious if you are used to working independently and have a valid B driving license.

As a person, it is important that you are structured, attentive, and helpful, and that you always put the patient first. You are secure and meticulous in your role and a person who sees opportunities instead of setbacks. Additionally, you have an ethical approach, are positive towards improvement work, and have good collaboration skills. Furthermore, you contribute to an open and joyful work environment.
