About us

In the psychology group at Värnamo Municipality, three licensed psychologists work, and we are now looking for a fourth colleague.

The psychologists are centrally located at the Department of Education's office, along with school doctors, speech therapists, and the head of student health. The psychologists have access to bright and spacious offices. The psychology group meets weekly for meetings where they work on joint development, have peer supervision, and distribute incoming cases. The psychology group collaborates with the municipality's preschools and schools and has not divided these among themselves. The psychologists have a close collaboration with the principals and regularly participate in the schools' student health team meetings alongside special educators, counselors, and school nurses who are locally placed at each school unit. The psychologists have extensive experience working as school psychologists in the municipality.

Job Responsibilities

As a psychologist with us, you will have a free and highly varied job. Your main tasks are to contribute to health-promoting and preventive school development together with the principal and student health team. You will provide knowledge to teachers' daily work to improve and develop students' well-being and work environment, thereby influencing their opportunities for learning and goal achievement. You will work closely with various professionals in the schools and have daily contact with engaged and experienced psychologist colleagues. In the workgroup, collegial learning is valued, but there is also external supervision. Continuously conducting organizational development for the psychology function to meet the demands of the work and the needs of the organization is seen as a given. You are responsible for choosing methods and tools based on the assignments the psychology group receives from principals in preschool, primary school, and upper secondary school, which practically involves both consultative work, supervision assignments, educational initiatives, and investigative work.

Qualifications

We primarily seek someone who is a licensed psychologist, but you who have completed a psychology degree and need PTP training are also welcome to apply (in this case, you will have access to an experienced internal PTP supervisor). A driver's license is required, and access to a car pool is available. You are expected to be interested in development work from a health-promoting and preventive perspective and have an interest in working with children and adolescents and their networks; however, it is not part of the job responsibilities to have a treatment assignment (except for the requirements of the National Board of Health and Welfare during PTP training). It is advantageous if you have knowledge of and experience in group and organizational psychology; neuropsychiatric issues; low-arousal responses; and case supervision. Experience working as a school psychologist is advantageous.
