We own, develop, and manage properties for total defense. We are experts in fortification, i.e., protection and facility technology. Our main mission is to contribute to increased defense capability – for a safe and free Sweden. The Fortifications Agency has a socially important task, and in recent years, the agency's activities have steadily grown. Our growth continues, and we handle extensive acquisitions and new constructions while also upgrading and enhancing our existing property portfolio.

Your everyday life – strengthening Sweden's total defense

We have been tasked by the government to ensure that the defense has well-functioning facilities, land, and premises for its operations, and we are an important part of the country's crisis preparedness. In just a few years, the security and defense policy conditions have significantly changed the national defense policy, leading to the growth of the Fortifications Agency. The management staff supports the Director-General by being cohesive and coordinating the agency's various activities. The Real Estate Development Unit is one of four units in the management staff.

The Real Estate Development Unit is responsible for all real estate transactions of the Fortifications Agency. This practically involves acquisitions for new establishments or at existing sites, as well as disposals through sales. The unit is also responsible for land surveying issues. The unit has 14 employees and consists of real estate developers, real estate strategists, chief architect, investment managers, and real estate controllers.

As a real estate strategist, you will prepare and carry out acquisitions and sales of real and personal property. Our real estate strategists are responsible for managing large and complex acquisition cases through independent work with high demands on self-drive and the ability to deliver safely and qualitatively. The role includes customer and authority contacts as well as negotiations with property owners in both transactions and sublettings. The position involves many internal contacts within the Fortifications Agency and with the Armed Forces and other partners. Furthermore, it includes responsibility for the projects' finances and accounting. The position involves travel throughout the responsibility area.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university education in law, land surveying, forestry & agriculture, or other education that we consider equivalent. You have many years of experience in transaction work in the real estate industry. You also have experience in transactions involving commercial properties and building rights. You have good negotiation skills and a developed network within the real estate industry. Business acumen is consistently important in the position. Furthermore, you have good experience with administrative IT systems and good knowledge of Swedish and English. A class B driver's license is a requirement.

It is advantageous if you have real estate legal studies at the university level. It is also advantageous if you have experience in working with confidentiality issues and a documented interest in total defense issues. It is also to your advantage if you have knowledge of real estate transactions in forestry/agriculture or experience in transactions within public operations.

Swedish citizenship is a requirement, as employments at the Fortifications Agency are security classified.
