We are now seeking a laboratory engineer to strengthen our team in the Packaging and Packaging Systems unit within the Sustainable Materials and Packaging department. The team consists of engineers and experts working on various aspects of mechanical reliability, material properties, fatigue, vibration and climate resistance, validation, and quality assurance of calculations.

The position is based at our laboratory in Kista, Torshamnsgatan 24.

About the role In the role of laboratory engineer, you will work in our material and packaging characterization lab for physical properties, both with standardized assignments using known methods and research projects that may involve method development and hypothesis testing. You will work from the initial customer dialogue through to the preparation of quotes, execution of testing, report writing, and invoicing.

You will partly work with our researchers and support them in their research with tasks such as measuring material and packaging properties, experimental planning, and result analysis.

In this role, you will have significant responsibility and are expected to drive the assignments you work on from start to finish. Depending on your interests and theoretical background, this role can develop to become more versatile as there are great development opportunities within the organization.

Your tasks will include:

  • Conducting customer dialogues and handling customer inquiries
  • Experimental setup, planning, execution, and written reporting of assignments to clients
  • Identifying and performing the necessary tests for various assignments
  • Instrument responsibility
  • Analysis and compilation of data in programs such as Matlab

The position is a permanent employment with a start date according to agreement.

Who are you? You have experience and enjoy working in a laboratory where knowledge building and problem-solving are central. You have a university degree in engineering, preferably with a focus on Materials Science or equivalent work experience. Experience working in an accredited environment is an advantage.

You are proficient in both Swedish and English, spoken and written. You appreciate a mix of practical and analytical work and have the ability to use your theoretical knowledge to understand and tackle new applications and practical problems.

You are engaged, structured, see new opportunities, enjoy problem-solving, and have good collaboration skills. Furthermore, it is also a requirement that you can independently prepare test specimens for testing in our testing equipment and can make adjustments to test rigs to mount test specimens on our testing equipment.
