The mission of Democracy and Citizen Services is to support the city's operations in developing and providing services to residents, visitors, and businesses, as well as creating conditions for citizens' democratic participation and influence. This means that we are responsible for Gothenburg City's contact center, provide methodological support for service and democracy development, and coordinate and develop external digital channels such as goteborg.se. We run the city's citizen offices, Sign Language Forum, Rainbow House, and the Romano Center in the West, which is a Roma information and knowledge center. We also offer consumer advice and budget and debt counseling. Additionally, we are responsible for Gothenburg City's guardianship activities. Our administration has over 250 employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to contribute to a more sustainable everyday life for the people of Gothenburg? We are now looking for a summer substitute for our advisory team in consumer law.

The job involves staffing telephone advice, monitoring emails, and receiving physical visits. You provide service to residents in Gothenburg through impartial and independent advice on consumer law issues. The advice includes answering questions about complaints and disputes, interpreting laws, and helping consumers prepare for filing complaints with the National Board for Consumer Disputes. Pre-purchase advice before buying services or goods is also included.

Since we also need to organize and sort documents, the assignment includes archive work corresponding to about half of the working hours.

You will be part of a team of 20 people who work together to provide financial support and advice while promoting sustainable consumption patterns.

The position is a summer substitute with the possibility of extension on a full-time or part-time basis during the autumn of 2025 when needs may arise.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is studying or has a bachelor's degree in law or another relevant field. You have previous experience in service, advisory, or customer contact work.

As a person, you have an open and positive attitude with the consumer's needs as your starting point. You are good at collaborating and creating a positive atmosphere when meeting others. To succeed in the role, it is important that you are service-oriented and communicative. You have a desire to help others and make an effort to present solutions while adapting your communication to different people and situations. Since you may encounter people in difficult life situations, you need to be able to act sensitively while having the ability to set boundaries and stick to the assignment. To succeed in the assignment, you also need to be structured and take responsibility for your and the group's tasks.
