JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a municipal lawyer, you will be a central legal resource and provide legal support to the municipal council, municipal executive board, committees, and municipal companies. You will handle a wide range of legal issues within, for example, municipal law, administrative law, public access and confidentiality, contract law, and other legal areas affecting municipal operations.

Your main job responsibilities include, among other things:

• conducting legal investigations and ensuring the quality of decision-making documents before decisions in the municipality's various bodies
• educating and informing officials and elected representatives on legal matters
• drafting and reviewing contracts, governing documents, and other legal documents
• representing the municipality in court proceedings and other administrative matters.

The work also involves monitoring legal developments and analyzing their impact on the municipality's operations, as well as contributing to the development of the municipality's legal processes and routines.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a law degree (jur.kand or equivalent) and has good knowledge of public law, particularly municipal law, administrative law, and public access and confidentiality legislation, as well as contract law. Experience in qualified legal work, especially within public operations, is an advantage. Experience of legal work in a municipality is particularly meritorious. Clerkship is advantageous but not a requirement.

To thrive in the role, we see that you are analytical, meticulous, and have good problem-solving skills. You have the ability to address and adapt legal issues in a pedagogical and clear manner, both in writing and verbally. Since you will collaborate with various professional groups and decision-makers in the role, it is important that you are attentive and have strong communication skills to create understanding in complex legal reasoning for different target groups. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The position is classified in a security class, which means that employment requires a satisfactory result in a security clearance conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act.
