Position/Job Title: Unit Manager for Food and Cleaning Services
Location: Henån
Food and cleaning services are part of the community development sector. The sector is responsible for everything from planning new residential areas, building permits, environment, property, rescue services, business operations, leisure, culture, and libraries. Food and cleaning services work with internal service and deliver clean and well-maintained premises, as well as nutritious and delicious meals to our customers and guests within preschool, school, and care services. Within food and cleaning services, 70 well-educated and engaged employees work across five kitchens and five areas of cleaning services. The cleaning staff's mission includes staffing our serving kitchens in preschools and serving food there, as well as washing dishes afterward.
The operation is managed by a business manager, three unit managers, and a food administrator, who also make up the management team for food and cleaning services.
The unit manager we are now seeking will be responsible for a kitchen in Ellös, which is currently operated as an intrapreneurship, as well as two areas of cleaning services in Ellös and Svanesund respectively. As a unit manager, you have your own area of responsibility, but together with your colleagues, you have overall responsibility for the operation of the business. You work closely with your colleagues and have daily contact with them.
Within the food unit, we work with a high proportion of organic food and we have a top 10 ranking in the Ekomatsligan.
Your tasks
As a unit manager, you are expected to drive and develop the food and cleaning services together with your colleagues towards set goals. You have partial operational responsibility for personnel, budget, and financial follow-up within your area and are responsible for ensuring that the municipality's resources are used in the best way. You support and lead staff with various competencies and help them grow in their professional roles while developing daily work together with employees and colleagues. The assignment requires good leadership skills, which includes motivating and inspiring employees to create participation and team spirit. In the assignment, you are expected to have close cooperation with unit managers in care services and principals in preschool and school, as they are our customers. It is important to collaborate with customers and have a holistic view, as clean premises and meals are important resources in their operations.
About you
As a person, you can work both independently and together with others. You easily take the initiative for new working methods to achieve results. You are someone with a strong interest in working with development and continuous improvements. Together with your employees, you find ways and working methods to develop daily work. You have a burning interest in service and a strong commitment to public meals. You think strategically, are action-oriented, and take responsibility for your tasks. The operation is event-driven, so it is important that you enjoy having many tasks running simultaneously and have the ability to maintain a structure to prioritize your work effectively. To succeed in the assignment, you need to be customer- and guest-oriented and have an easy time making new contacts.
You who apply for the position have a suitable university degree such as a food economist, nutritionist, or other education that the employer finds equivalent. Previous experience in leading food and cleaning services is an advantage. We expect you to have good computer skills and preferably knowledge of Matilda, which is the food planning system we use. You also have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
