For a Living Kiruna
One thing is certain. With us, you make a difference. We are Kiruna, we often say. We are the caregivers holding grandma's hand and the teacher helping little brother read his first words. We are the childcare worker helping someone grow every day and the social worker doing what it takes to change lives. We are the personal assistant providing freedom and the librarian bringing literature close. We are the home support staff driving through snowstorms to reach the villages like the midnight sun. We are hundreds of competencies, thousands of people, and generations of experience working together to secure, care for, inspire, teach, save lives, think innovatively, move cities, support each other, and take care of people. With pride and compassion. From mountains to city. Today and tomorrow for a living Kiruna. There is something beautiful in that. Do you also want to work for life, humanity, and the future in Kiruna Municipality? Do you want to create value and make a real difference for what is important?
Municipal Executive Administration
The Municipal Executive Administration is the central administration of the municipality, consisting of six departments responsible for economic, personnel, and IT issues as well as urban planning, service, and leisure matters. The Municipal Executive Office is responsible for the administrative services of the municipal council and the municipal assembly.
We are now looking for a sustainability strategist based at the Municipal Executive Office.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a sustainability strategist, you will develop the municipality's work with local environmental goals and the UN's global goals, as well as support the organization in implementing solutions. Since this position is new in Kiruna Municipality, it means you will develop a structure and a system for the municipality's sustainability work together with existing functions in the group.
You will coordinate and lead the group's sustainability work to create methods, organization, and timelines for implementing our sustainability goals. You will also analyze and evaluate the work as a basis for prioritizing the group's goals and activities. The starting point for the work is the UN's global goals and Agenda 2030. An important perspective is to follow urban transformation and work towards implementing new effective sustainability solutions.
Kiruna Municipality is a large municipality, and sustainability work for the continued development of rural areas is politically prioritized.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a city in transformation where you have the chance to influence the design of the position!
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with an academic education in environmental or sustainability studies or another education that we consider equivalent. You have experience in environmental, climate, or sustainability work, preferably with a focus on social aspects, both at an operational and strategic level. You have previously worked with change management, and experience in project management is an advantage.
The position is broad, and you will collaborate both internally and externally with different target groups, which means you need to be attentive and relationship-building as well as have good collaboration skills. This also means you need to be pedagogical and communicative.
Since this is a newly established position, it is especially important that you are structured, proactive, and curious, as it involves developing new methods, processes, setting goals, and creating new forms of collaboration.
You need to have excellent knowledge of Swedish, both written and spoken. Good knowledge of English is also preferred. You feel comfortable working in various operational systems, especially in Office, and it is an advantage if you have experience in statistical processing in Excel or other statistical tools.
Kiruna Municipality is an administrative area for the three national minority languages Finnish, Meänkieli, and Sami. This means that knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage.
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
OTHER
To work with us, you must share Kiruna Municipality's common values, where respect, responsibility, and collaboration are the guiding principles.
We offer a pleasant working environment and stimulating tasks, ensuring that you as an employee have a good balance between work and leisure.
We have many different benefits where you as an employee can train for free at various training facilities up to 5000 SEK/year, we have cabins in the mountains that you can rent, and we offer the opportunity to salary exchange for days off.
We strive for an even gender distribution and see diversity as a strength; we welcome employees with different backgrounds and work to make our workplaces accessible to all. Kiruna Municipality sees full-time work as a right and part-time work as an opportunity. Knowledge of Finnish, Sami, and/or Meänkieli is an advantage since Kiruna Municipality is an administrative area for these languages.
Kiruna Municipality has made a medieval decision for this recruitment and therefore requests no contact with advertising sellers or other sellers of recruitment services.
