At the Swedish Work Environment Authority, we work together to ensure that no one gets sick, injured, or dies from work. Therefore, we assist employers in meeting existing requirements and inform them about how work environment efforts can become a natural part of everyday life. Based on the Work Environment Act, we develop regulations, inspect workplaces, and disseminate knowledge about work environment issues. The mission is serious, but our daily life is characterized by joy at work, and we are caring and helpful colleagues.
Your new job
We are looking for a qualified case officer in the field of construction and civil engineering work, as well as scaffolding, for the user regulations unit. You will work alongside 17 knowledgeable and engaged colleagues, two of whom work with construction and civil engineering. The unit primarily deals with regulations and questions related to the use of various types of work equipment (such as lifting devices and machines), construction and civil engineering work, mining and quarrying, transport, and physical factors (such as exposure to vibrations and noise).
As a qualified officer, you will have varied tasks within the unit's special areas as well as the entire work environment field. Much of the work is carried out in project form and in collaboration with other departments within the Swedish Work Environment Authority. Examples of tasks include:
- Participate in regulatory work and investigations.
- Answer questions about work environment regulations in the subject area.
- Develop guiding materials.
- Monitor the external environment.
- Contribute opinions in appeals.
- Respond to consultations.
- Support work environment inspectors.
- Participate in and lead projects.
- Contribute to training.
- Collaborate with labor market partners, accredited organizations, other authorities, and stakeholders.
- Participate in international standardization work and EU work.
Your background
The role requires that you have:
- Two years of relevant university/higher education. Alternatively, other education combined with work experience that the employer deems relevant.
- Good experience from working in the construction and civil engineering industry (e.g., client role, designer, construction work environment coordinator).
- Experience communicating in various contexts and comfortable speaking in front of groups.
- Basic IT skills.
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish.
- Ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in English.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Experience working with planning and/or design of scaffolding and weather protection.
- Good knowledge of work environment regulations in the construction and civil engineering industry.
- Worked in a government role related to the position (e.g., work environment inspector).
As a person, we see that you will thrive and succeed in the role if you take the initiative to develop new relationships and share information and expertise to achieve team results. Your communication is open and straightforward. You have good problem-solving skills, are meticulous, and adhere to established rules, routines, and processes. In the selection process, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
Employment with us may mean that the position is placed in a security class. Security clearance with or without background checks may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our tasks in the security class, Swedish citizenship is required. Security clearance is conducted according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
