Subject Description

Child and youth studies is an interdisciplinary main area where the lives of children and young people are studied, with common denominators around upbringing, living conditions, and social interaction. Theoretically and methodologically, knowledge is drawn from disciplines across the entire field of humanities and social sciences. Children's and young people's own perspectives on their experiences are a central interest within the main area, another is the cultural aspects that surround children's and young people's everyday lives, where critical perspectives are placed on how childhood and youth are formulated and what consequences this has. Various societal arenas are studied, such as family, school, leisure centers, and other social institutions, as well as children and young people in media, during leisure time, and in civil society.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include teaching in the primary teacher program with a focus on work in leisure centers at a basic level, where seminars and camps may occur, VFU visits (tripartite conversations) with students at leisure centers, reading VFU portfolios, and associated administrative work related to current courses.

Eligibility Requirements

Adjunct teacher is a form of employment for teachers whose main activity is outside the higher education system. The employment is temporary, possibly with the opportunity for extension, and part-time.

Eligible for employment as an adjunct teacher is one who has obtained a teaching degree in a relevant subject and has demonstrated pedagogical competence. The pedagogical competence must be well-documented so that the quality can be assessed.

For eligibility, the applicant must have a good subject-related connection to the primary teacher program with a focus on work in leisure centers. Experience from teaching in leisure centers is a requirement. Experience in supervising and teaching teacher students is desirable.

Swedish language proficiency is a requirement for the appointment, as the majority of the course literature is in Swedish and deals with a national context where examination tasks and other student-authored texts must be read and provided feedback on in Swedish.

As a general eligibility requirement, the ability to collaborate, as well as the ability and suitability otherwise needed to perform the job responsibilities well, is required.

Assessment Criteria

In the appointment, special emphasis will be placed on documented experience of teaching and practical experience of working in leisure centers, supervising students during their VFU, and conducting tripartite conversations.

Great importance is placed on the applicant's pedagogical competence demonstrated through teaching and supervising students at the undergraduate level.

Great importance is placed on the applicant's ability to collaborate well with colleagues among teaching staff, technical administrative personnel, and researchers.

The assessment of adult pedagogical competence will be given equal importance as the assessment of relevant work experience from leisure centers.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary, part-time 20-49% for 1 year with the possibility of extension. Start date August 1, 2025, or by agreement.
