Job Responsibilities

Oxievångs adapted primary school will have a focus area for grades 1-6 starting from the school year 25-26. We will expand with more classes for younger students. Gradually, we will grow to include grades 1-9. Our operations are conducted this school year in our own premises at Oxie IP, where we have home classrooms and subject rooms for music, home economics, motor skills, and a cafeteria. All classrooms are equipped with fresh adapted furniture and interactive screens.

We are now looking for special education teachers for our adapted primary school. The position offers good opportunities to continue shaping and developing the operations, as we are a relatively new institution. As a special education teacher, you will have primary responsibility for planning, implementing, and assessing the teaching for the students in your class. You will conduct the teaching in a team where you lead the work together with several educators/teaching assistants. You are the mentor for the students in your class and thus have primary responsibility for communication with the guardians. You and the other special education teachers in the adapted primary school form a work team together with regular operational meetings.

Qualifications

You are a qualified special education teacher, and it is an advantage if your certification is in intellectual disabilities. Previous experience working as a special education teacher is desirable. The position also requires experience working in an adapted primary school. You have documented competence in the NPF area. You have very good insight and knowledge of the governing documents of adapted primary schools and knowledge of how to apply them in daily work, developing work based on evidence-based research.

In your work with students, you focus on communication and use the methods, tools, and aids that work. You have previous experience working with clear pedagogical methods through AAC, and digital learning tools are natural components of teaching, where good didactics and pedagogy interact. You work multimodally and have a good understanding of functional variations and how to best compensate for them. You work with a low-arousal approach and are a good relationship builder. Your view of students is characterized by positivity and a belief that all students can and should develop their full potential.

About the Workplace

Oxievång School is a primary school for grades F-9 with about 750 students, as well as an adapted primary school under expansion. We focus on each student and build our leadership on good relationships. We support each other and complement each other's competencies. We believe in teamwork and building a learning environment characterized by sustainability, safety, and study peace that stimulates students' desire and motivation to learn. We work to ensure that every student develops and learns according to their conditions. Working with digital tools that complement and develop learning is an important part of our approach, where the school's digitalization group serves as a resource. We are an NTA school and use this material in science education. The school has a well-functioning student health team that collaborates closely with the various work teams and the adapted primary school.
