About the job
Participation in several different research projects on bats. The tasks consist of capturing bats for tagging with radio transmitters and tracking bats, as well as sampling. All work takes place in the field at night, partly on your own but always with someone else nearby.
Your background
You should have experience from fieldwork with bats as well as experience in capturing and handling bats. You should have completed a bat capture course (BatLife Sweden) and be rabies vaccinated. You must have good knowledge of Swedish and good skills in bat species identification both morphologically and by sound. The work also requires that you can work independently and take your own initiatives.
About us
At the Department of Urban and Rural Development, undergraduate education, doctoral education, research, and collaboration are conducted in five divisions: agrarian history, landscape architecture, rural development, environmental communication, and the division of political science and natural resource management, which includes Sida's helpdesk for environmental assessment and the Centre for Biological Diversity (CBM). The department also houses the Centre for Nature Guidance (CNV). It is the largest department at SLU for social sciences, humanities, and design. Questions about the sustainable use of natural resources and landscapes are central to the department's research, teaching, and collaboration. Approximately 170 people are employed at the department.

Location:
Location in Uppsala, but fieldwork will be conducted at various locations in Götaland and Svealand.
Employment form:
Hourly paid employment; seasonal employment. This means that you will be offered work during shorter periods during the period specified below under the heading “scope”. You can accept or decline each opportunity you are offered work. When you accept one or more job opportunities, a new employment contract will be made for those occasions.
Scope:
The work starts on May 1 and ends on September 31, but only during the month of July will the employment be more continuous. The total working time is estimated to be about 220 hours.
