PhD Student in Organic Nanoparticles and Photocatalysis

Job Responsibilities

The main task of the PhD student is to pursue their doctoral education. This includes research on organic nanoparticles in photocatalysis, using both synthetic and photochemical methods. The PhD student will have the opportunity to design and synthesize organic molecules, investigate their aggregation behavior in photochemical reactions and photophysical studies, and explore how molecular structure and nanoparticle morphology can be optimized for chemical reactions. The research will be conducted both independently and in collaboration with others. Additionally, departmental duties, such as teaching at the undergraduate level, may comprise up to 20% of a full-time position.

Qualifications

The applicant must have:

• completed a master's degree or
• completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the master's level (of which 15 higher education credits constitute independent work), with content relevant to the doctoral education or
• acquired equivalent knowledge in some other way, either domestically or internationally
• excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
• demonstrated experience in organic synthesis

The applicant must be highly motivated for the tasks and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Great emphasis will also be placed on personal qualities such as good collaboration skills, drive, and independence, as well as how the applicant's experience and competence are assessed to have the ability needed to complete the doctoral education.

Desirable/meritorious qualifications

Experience in photochemistry, particularly photocatalysis, is meritorious.

About the Position

The position is temporary, according to HF Chapter 5 § 7. The extent is full-time.
Start date 2025-09-01 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala
