Environmental Strategy Unit

The Environmental Strategy Unit is one of five units in the Environmental Department of the County Administrative Board. We work together on environmental issues from a regional, strategic perspective. Our mission is to coordinate and lead the work with the County Administrative Board's environmental goals, energy and climate assignments, as well as the Board's work with environmental monitoring. We also work with water management and the reassessment of hydropower. We also manage state support for climate investments (climate step), local nature conservation initiatives (LONA), and local water conservation projects (LOVA).

Job Responsibilities

As an environmental strategist, you will drive, coordinate, and develop the County Administrative Board's strategic environmental work in close collaboration with colleagues, unit and department heads. This includes coordinating and developing work on the Roadmap for a Sustainable County, the regional action programs for environmental goals, coordinating the county's environmental goal follow-up, coordinating the county's environmental and climate council, and working on the county's environmental and climate conference. As an environmental strategist, you will actively monitor issues, trends, and consultations in the environmental field at both regional and national levels. Your work contributes to the development of both goals and guidelines as well as the follow-up and reporting of results. In this position, you will have many contacts with stakeholders in the county, and both written and oral communication will be a significant part of the job. Other tasks within the unit may also arise.

Qualifications

You have:

• a university degree with a focus on environmental and climate issues
• experience and a good ability to communicate and disseminate messages to different target groups, both orally and in writing
• documented experience of working with environmental and climate issues
• documented experience of working in projects

It is an advantage if you have:

• experience in project management
• experience of working in the public sector
• experience with case management systems
• experience in systematic follow-up of results
• experience in planning and conducting communication initiatives

You are proactive, self-sufficient, and have the ability to plan and structure your work independently. You need to have good collaboration skills and strong communication abilities.

You represent the County Administrative Board in a trustworthy manner. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

Conditions

The employment is temporary (substitute) starting as soon as possible until 2026-08-15. Your job title at the authority will be case officer.
