Department of Animal Biosciences
Most of our production animals live in groups, but their social interactions are rarely included in breeding evaluations. Could animal welfare be improved by conducting breeding that takes into account the animals' social interactions? This is an important question that we at the Department of Animal Biosciences are investigating using genomics, statistics, and sensor data. Would you like to be part of this research?
About the Job
Researcher is a position where you are expected to drive the research direction through scientific publication and your own grants. The main task of the employment is to conduct research and teaching within the field of animal genetics.
The focus spans broadly across technology, genetics, and statistical analyses. The work involves the collection and analysis of large data sets. You will work closely with other researchers in quantitative genetics as well as in a network of external actors, but you will lead and drive the work within the research direction yourself. This means that you actively work to secure external funding while advancing the scientific work.
Your Background
The position is intended for a researcher who has worked for at least a couple of years with quantitative genetics and social interactions in mammals. You have a PhD with a relevant focus on animal genetics. Good knowledge of spoken and written English is a requirement.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Proven ability to analyze genetic data from group-living mammals
- Good experience in handling large data and statistical analyses of social networks
- Participated in granted research applications
Particular emphasis will be placed on scientific competence and publication within the subject area. Great importance is placed on qualities such as analytical and problem-solving ability, motivation, teamwork skills, and the ability to work independently.
The candidate will first be assessed based on how well the eligibility qualifications for the position are met. In this recruitment, the department will, in addition to documented merits, also consider the candidate who, after a holistic assessment, is deemed to have the best conditions to carry out and develop the current tasks, to collaborate with internal and external actors, and to promote the utilization of the university's research while contributing to a positive development of the operations.
About Us
