Alcohol Administrator for the Environmental and Health Protection Unit

Tierp is a municipality with an organization of the right size for those who want close access to managers, colleagues, politics, and customers. There is room for both personal development and collaboration within the organization.

Our municipality offers varied living environments, coastal nature, history, culture, and good service. Tierp is within commuting distance of Stockholm, Uppsala, and Gävle and also offers the possibility to work partially remotely.

At the Environmental and Health Protection Unit, there are 11 inspectors and 4 administrators. Through supervision, information, and advice to the municipality's residents and businesses, we create conditions for achieving the purpose of legislation within various supervisory areas. We work with digitized processing flows.

Starting in 2026, the municipalities of Tierp and Heby have chosen to enter into a cooperation agreement, which means we will perform our duties for two municipalities. The employer will be Tierp Municipality and the main workplace will be Tierp Town Hall.

Our values are important, and together we work to realize our value words: respect, responsibility, customer focus, courage, and faith in the future.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for an engaged and meticulous alcohol administrator for our environmental and health protection unit. The main focus of the employment is to work with permits, supervision, and advice for serving permits, tobacco, low-alcohol beer, and over-the-counter medications.

In the role of alcohol administrator, you will have primary responsibility for processing permits for the sale and serving of alcohol. You will process applications, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Collaboration with other authorities and stakeholders is a central part of your work. You will also be an important contact person for entrepreneurs and help them understand and follow regulations. You will work within the function for food and serving permits with two experienced food inspectors who also have knowledge in the area of alcohol administration.

Since we are a smaller municipality, the tasks may also include supervision of, for example, food and drinking water to ensure that applicable regulations and guidelines are followed.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a university degree focused on environmental and health protection inspection or another education that we consider equivalent. You have knowledge of the alcohol and tobacco laws, government work, and administrative law. A degree in food legislation and food hygiene is also an advantage.

To succeed in the role of alcohol administrator, it is important that you have a good ability to communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders. You should have a strong sense of service and be able to meet both entrepreneurs and the public with kindness and professionalism. Your ability to work constructively and effectively with colleagues is crucial to maintaining a positive work environment. You need to be meticulous and structured, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising quality. Experience in processing or supervisory work is advantageous. Knowledge of alcohol legislation and supervisory work within food and drinking water is also a plus. You should be flexible and able to adapt to changing work conditions and new challenges.

Additional important qualifications include strong analytical skills and the ability to make well-founded decisions. You should have good IT skills and be comfortable using various data systems and software. We use EDP vision and the Office suite in our daily work. The ability to work independently and take personal responsibility is also important, as is the ability to plan and prioritize your work effectively. Good written and verbal communication skills in Swedish are a requirement, and knowledge of other languages can be an advantage. The work will mainly be performed during daytime, but since inspections occur in the evenings and on weekends, work outside normal office hours may also be required.

Tierp Municipality is part of the Finnish administrative area. If you meet our other competency requirements and also speak Finnish, it can be an asset.

We place great importance on personal qualities. Experience may be an advantage but is not a requirement.

A valid driver's license (B) is a requirement.

OTHER

At Tierp Municipality, we focus on the well-being of our employees and therefore offer a wellness allowance of 3,000 SEK, the opportunity to salary exchange for extra vacation days, benefit bicycles, and other attractive benefits. We also strive to create a workplace with rich development opportunities.

Diversity is important to us, and we see our employees' different backgrounds, experiences, knowledge, and personalities as a valuable resource that enriches our municipality.

If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, the EEA, or Switzerland, you must be able to present a valid work permit or confirm that you are exempt from the requirement. Employment can only occur after we have verified this, in accordance with the Aliens Ordinance.

We ask you to submit your application digitally via Visma Recruit. Please do not send applications via email or in paper format. If you have a protected identity, please contact the recruiting manager directly and do not submit your application digitally.

Selection is ongoing, and a probationary period may be applied. The start date for the position will be as soon as possible based on the most suitable candidate's circumstances.

We kindly but firmly decline all offers of assistance with advertising or recruitment.
