Postdoctoral Researcher in Stochastic Control Theory

The Department of Mathematics conducts research and offers education from undergraduate to doctoral level in mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics. The number of employees is 120, including 30 doctoral students. The department has three research programs: analysis and probability, algebra and geometry, applied mathematics, and statistics.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct research on stochastic control theory within the project "Investments and Optimal Learning." Teaching and administration may be included (up to 20 percent).

Qualifications

PhD in mathematics or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD in mathematics. The degree must be obtained by the time the employment decision is made. Preference will be given to those who obtained their degree no more than three years ago. In calculating the three-year timeframe, the last application date is the starting point. If there are special reasons, such a degree may have been obtained earlier. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, union duties, etc.

Documented ability to conduct excellent research in stochastic control theory and its applications to financial problems. Relevant subfields include optimal stopping theory, classical stochastic control theory, singular stochastic control, dynamic game theory, and studies of stochastic control problems relevant to financial applications.

Good command of spoken and written English.
