Field Assistants in Ecology

We are now looking for two field assistants in ecology for the Zooecology program.

Project Description

Do you enjoy working with insects and birds in the field? We are looking for two field assistants for the project “Does biological mosquito control (Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis: Bti) affect the terrestrial food web structure?”

Job Responsibilities

The work consists of: 1) setting up and emptying insect traps, 2) taking biological samples from live insects, 3) capturing birds to take biological samples from them, and 4) project administration.

Some experience in bird ringing, as well as familiarity with capturing and handling insects and birds is required. Experience in forests with mosquitoes is beneficial.

Qualifications

Relevant fieldwork experience and a valid driver's license (B) are required.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities such as attention to detail and the ability to document tasks. The candidate should have a good ability to express themselves in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Meritorious

Previous experience in insect and bird surveys is advantageous.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary for 4 months, but no longer than until 2025-08-15. The position is 50%. Start date is 2025-04-15 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
