Operational Management Leader in Nutrition
Do you have expertise in nutrition and current experience in project management? Have you worked with requirements specification and support for digital operational support? Would you like to work as an operational management leader for some of the Swedish Food Agency's IT systems that handle data and tools related to food and consumption? Then you could be our new team member in the Nutrition Unit. Here, you will be part of a unit with broad expertise in nutrition and work on something that makes a difference for many, every day. Welcome with your application!
Why the Swedish Food Agency?
Safe food, safe drinking water, and sustainable eating habits are central to a sustainable society. The issues we work with at the Swedish Food Agency affect everyone in one way or another. The agency is involved in building Sweden's civil defense and plays a key role in ensuring a robust food and drinking water supply. We are Sweden's expert authority on food issues and deal daily with current matters that concern people's lives and everyday activities.
Department of Risk and Benefit Assessment
The department consists of three units: the Nutrition Unit, the Biological Hazards Unit, and the Toxicology Unit. In total, we are about 35 employees. In the department, we work together to conduct risk and benefit assessments and develop various scientific bases for the Swedish Food Agency's recommendations and advice, legislation, and for risk-based food control.
The Nutrition Unit
You will belong to the Nutrition Unit with 12 dedicated employees who, among other things, develop scientific bases in the field of nutrition and conduct surveys of eating habits and food in Sweden. To assist in this work, the Swedish Food Agency has several IT systems that manage data and tools, including the Food Data System, which contains the agency's dietary survey tool RiksmatenFlex and the Food Database. A well-functioning food database is the foundation for much of the Swedish Food Agency's work on good eating habits and is also of great importance for food companies' work with nutritional labeling. The operational management responsibility for this lies with the unit, which is also responsible for the work with the Food Database and its content.
Your Role
You will work as a project manager for the food database work and as an operational management leader for the system support that the unit is responsible for. The work involves planning, following up, and coordinating the work with the Food Database and the collaboration between IT and the operations. You will also work practically with the Food Database. In the unit, we adapt our work to the operational requirements and conditions, so other tasks may become relevant. Together with your colleagues, you will take responsibility for the unit's common assignments and resources as well as the needs of target groups. You will make thoughtful priorities in your work and deliver according to set goals. You will monitor the environment to gather new perspectives and maintain relevant expertise.
Your Competence
Requirements for the position:
- You have a university degree in nutrition or food science
- You have project management training and documented and current work experience in driving and completing projects.
- You can express yourself well in both spoken and written form, in both Swedish and English
Meritorious for the position:
- Experience in working with improvements and support for operations through digitalization
- Experience in working with user-related issues regarding databases and systems

Your Personal Qualities
You are self-driven, good at making your own decisions, and have sound judgment. You have an easy time analyzing data and information, seeing patterns, and taking a holistic perspective. You work in a structured, meticulous manner and deliver quality results on time. Since the work involves collaboration with several departments and external partners, you need to be flexible and have good collaboration skills. You are skilled at handling complex issues and explaining them to others in an understandable way. You thrive on managing multiple parallel tasks. We place great importance on personal qualities.
To succeed in your work, you act responsibly, collaboratively, development-oriented, and solution-focused. You invite and are open to collaborations and new perspectives that improve our deliveries.
