Department of Animal Bioveterinary Sciences

We are looking for an independent and motivated postdoctoral researcher for a newly started research project investigating food recalls in the food chain with a focus on food safety.

About the job

The project will use registry data to answer why food is recalled from the food chain before it reaches the consumer and where in the food chain the recall occurs. The project will also address questions through interviews regarding how companies and regulatory authorities reason about food recalls.

You will collaborate in a multidisciplinary team with representatives from academia, authorities, and the private sector.

Your background

You should have:

  • A PhD in a relevant field
  • The ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary research environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to publish scientifically in relevant subjects
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish to communicate with Swedish authorities and companies.
  • You should have very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.
  • Experience in food and public health research is an advantage.
  • Experience working with databases and interviews is an advantage.

The position is intended for a junior researcher, and we primarily seek individuals who have obtained their PhD within the last three years.

About us

The Department of Animal Bioveterinary Sciences is part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science and is responsible for education and research in several fundamental and applied scientific areas. These areas include anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, toxicology, genetics, breeding, immunology, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, epizootiology, comparative medicine, food safety, bioinformatics, and One Health.

HBIO offers a creative and inspiring environment with broad expertise and a wide range of research interests. We have a strong research environment in various areas of One Health and welcome postdoctoral projects that integrate several of our research fields. We provide the necessary equipment and infrastructure for postdoctoral research, including advanced equipment for molecular biology, cell culture, and microbiology, as well as biosafety level II laboratories and Maldi-Tof. In addition, the university has an animal hospital/veterinary clinic and a clinical chemistry laboratory.
