The Coast Guard is a civil government preparedness authority responsible for maritime surveillance and environmental rescue services at sea on behalf of the government and parliament. Description

The Coast Guard is seeking a development leader responsible for the development of the intelligence operations, based in Stockholm. The intelligence operations support the Coast Guard with operational, strategic, and thematic materials and are conducted within the maritime surveillance mission.

The intelligence operations collaborate with several authorities in Sweden as well as with other countries. You will develop methods for the intelligence operations and will be directly supervised by the head of intelligence operations.

Responsibilities

The development includes the implementation of intelligence methods tailored to the Coast Guard's operations. You will establish specifications for digital support systems and develop existing working methods to meet future needs within the maritime surveillance mission. The Coast Guard supports other authorities and actors with maritime information tailored to the recipient's needs. The intelligence operations constitute a very important and specialized part of that mission, which is why you will focus on ensuring that the development supports such needs. You will also have shared responsibility for training needs within the intelligence operations.

Your Skills

In this role, you need to be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of functions and management levels within the authority. You are an experienced and skilled presenter who can convey a message pedagogically and adapt to the situation depending on whom you are meeting. You need to deeply understand the needs present in collaboration with others and be able to propose appropriate solutions, both simple and complex. A significant part of the needs involves the development of IT systems based on user needs. Furthermore, you should be able to build trustworthy relationships with functions within the authority as well as with functions in other authorities. You have strong communication skills, are engaged, structured, and curious.

Qualifications

As an applicant, you have a relevant degree/education for the position. You have a long background in qualified intelligence work and have held a leadership role. You have solid experience in development work within intelligence operations and possess very good knowledge of the established methods used, which you also train others in. You have experience and knowledge of how the digital environment is structured around intelligence operations and best supports the needs of the operations. You have very good knowledge of the legislation governing intelligence operations. You have developed a large network within the national intelligence sphere over a long period.

You have excellent ability to express yourself in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The Coast Guard has various locations in Sweden, so you will be required to travel for work.

Conditions

The employment is temporary for one year with the possibility of extension. Start date as soon as possible by agreement.

For employment, Swedish citizenship, a driver's license for passenger cars, a drug test, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act are required.

The Coast Guard participates in overseas missions and international operations. Therefore, the position includes an obligation to serve abroad when required for the operations.
