About Stegehus

Stegehus offers one of Sweden's most beautiful workplaces with archipelago, mountains, and nature reserves right at the doorstep. In a small-scale and safe atmosphere, we have welcomed children and young people since 1977. Stegehus school focuses on grades 5–9 and accommodates about 12 students.

Almost all children who come to Stegehus have previously struggled to thrive in their school situation. This means they need an adapted school environment and special support in their education. At Stegehus school, there is an opportunity for significant adaptations in small groups with a high teacher density.

Stegehus's operations are inspired by both Waldorf pedagogy and new research findings and methods in psychology, pedagogy, sociology, and neuroscience.

The operations are owned and operated without profit interest by the non-profit foundation Steget. Stegehus is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the Waldorf School Federation.

What does the role entail?

As a teacher, your main work revolves around the students' schooling. The work includes, among other things:

· planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching

· mapping students' knowledge levels and pedagogical needs

· establishing and updating all necessary documentation for the student

· being responsible for premises and materials

· maintaining close contact with parents and other staff

As a teacher, you are expected to work towards the school's core values and to spread joy, warmth, and security to the students. The ability to collaborate with other staff members is fundamental, as is the ability to see the whole of the shared operations.

You will be part of Stegehus's teaching staff (a total of about 9 people) where you are expected to participate in the pedagogical development work. In the teaching staff, you will be involved in making decisions that affect both the students and the school as a whole. You are also expected to engage with current governing documents and participate in supervision and professional development.

The teachers share mentoring responsibilities for the school's students. The mentors have an extra responsibility for their students and ensure that all necessary documentation and follow-up is in place.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who are a qualified teacher with a teaching license for grades 5–9 or alternatively trained as a class teacher or subject teacher with a Waldorf teaching license.

You have previous teaching experience and knowledge of our student group's functional variations, i.e., knowledge and experience in meeting students with NPF, neuropsychiatric disabilities.

We are looking for someone who is qualified to teach Swedish, SO, and preferably crafts. Other subject competencies and experience in special education and/or similar activities are meritorious. We appreciate if you have the willingness and ability to extend beyond your formal subject competencies and can acquire the knowledge required to provide adequate teaching to the student.

A driver's license and access to a car are required. You also have very good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as well as good skills in the Office suite.

As a person, you possess a sense of responsibility, the ability to collaborate, and the ability to work independently. You have the ability to listen to others, adapt, handle rapid changes, and create trust and good relationships.

We place great importance on your personal qualities, which is why we also welcome applicants who have not yet obtained their teaching license or have competencies that can be equated with a teaching license.
