Would you find it rewarding and fun to work as a personal assistant? Are you a person who understands what the profession and the assignment entail and at the same time wants to become my friend? Do you have a very good work ethic? If you answered yes to these questions, you might be the one we are looking for!

Before you read further, please note the following - I am looking for someone who can start the introduction sometime from the end of April to the beginning of May. These shifts do not need to be many, but we look positively on if you have the opportunity to gradually grow into your role. We also have the possibility to offer you a part-time position already in May if you wish? This might suit you if you want an extra job during the spring to combine with studies.

You will start with an introductory schedule and then receive your own schedule. It would be great if you can stay even after the summer for a part-time position/extra job. We can offer you a position during the summer where you work full-time some weeks and part-time other weeks.

We will also be able to offer you some time off in the summer, but not during the weeks when several of my regular assistants wish to take vacation. For us, summer is from June 1 to August 31.

I am unfortunately unable to hire anyone who is allergic to pets or uses tobacco. This includes substitutes such as white snus and e-cigarettes!

It is about as difficult for me to briefly summarize this position as it is for you to make a complete presentation of yourself in a letter. This is because the position as someone's personal assistant is based on the person's life, and as you hopefully understand, my life is as diverse as yours. Still, I will try to explain who I and my friends/assistants are looking for...

To begin with, my assistants have the following shifts: Full days from 08:00 to 20:00, morning shifts of 5-7 hours, and afternoon shifts of 5-6 hours. The wakeful night shifts are 12 hours, from 20:00 to 08:00. It is therefore important that you have a good understanding and insight into what this entails. You should be able to turn your day around easily and be able to sleep during the day to come to me fresh and rested in the evening. I am thus dependent on my assistants around the clock even if you never work night shifts. If you do not have previous experience with night work, you are of course also welcome to apply, just remember that a night job does not mean your day gets 24 hours.

The introduction starts with day shifts even if you wish for both nights and day shifts in your schedule. This way, we get to know each other properly, and you learn as much as possible about my life. It is also nice for you to get to know my other friends; everyone should be able to cooperate.

Who are you?

To begin with, you who are applying need to be self-sufficient and confident in yourself. We also expect that you can handle simple household chores and can help and support me in my daily life. You do not need to have previous experience in the profession as it is not crucial for me. Of course, your experience is meritorious, but it is more important that you understand what a position as a personal assistant entails - what commitment and drive are expected of you. Developing a relationship does not happen overnight, so I am looking for you with patience, someone who truly wants to do their best for me by getting to know me and understands that this is the key to success.

It may sound harsh, but my requirement is that you who are applying are driven and responsible but also come with your own initiatives regardless of my daily condition. It can vary greatly how much I can handle due to my severe epilepsy, and you should therefore be able to take your own initiatives and be flexible when plans need to be changed.

In the summer, I love to swim in my pool; it is truly a favorite! I also enjoy everything from cooking & running with my marathon wheelchair, concerts, to museums and the gym to give you some clues.

A position as a personal assistant is varied, but with me, you can think of your role as consisting of three parts;

1. You help me with all basic needs with great respect for integrity and dignity.

2. You are my physical support, which means it is an advantage for you if you care about your health and enjoy exercising in your free time.

3. You are my motor in everyday life and together with your colleague are responsible for planning activities and routines.

These three parts of your professional role should be permeated by the fact that you are my friend because that is how the cooperation in my group works best and how I want to be treated. I am just over 20 years old, and my group of friends is therefore quite young (20-30 years). My life swings quickly, but my friends are careful to always share themselves regardless of the circumstances or obstacles I encounter. They are my friends and see me for who I am behind my difficulties, and I want to complement you who think the same way and do not view me as your patient. I require a high work ethic, which for you as an applicant means that you are reliable and treat me, your colleagues, and your profession with respect. You are also kind and calm and understand that your contribution is vital for me; your understanding of flexibility and variation in my life creates the best conditions for both of us.

You are expected to master the Swedish language fluently in speech and writing!

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, you need to have a lot of patience and a great understanding that my life is different and comes with various challenges sometimes!

Do you feel that you fit the expectations? Then I believe you have a good chance of becoming a friend in my team. From me, you will always receive a collective agreement via Fremia as long as you are over 18 years old - this is a requirement to work as a personal assistant.
