Do you want to work at the center of events regarding Swedish and international defense and security policy? The Ministry of Defence is developing its operations based on the changing global situation and Sweden's membership in NATO. We are looking for an employee who wants to contribute to Sweden's security through developing tasks in a very varied work environment. We currently have several advertised positions. This position is suitable for you if you have a few years of relevant work experience.

In a transformative security policy situation, we are looking for someone interested in analyzing the actions of various actors and developing and deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the defense and security policy area. You will work with processing, instruction, coordination, analysis, and policy development. You will also contribute to preparing materials for the political leadership's trips and visits. The tasks also include participating in trips and visits. Furthermore, the position also involves preparing various types of decision-making materials as well as responses to parliamentary questions and interpellations.

International elements in the work will become your everyday life, and you will have close contacts with relevant units within the Government Offices, other authorities, and counterparts in other countries. Together with professional and knowledgeable colleagues, you will assist the government and perform significant work that contributes to Sweden's development. You will work at a fast pace with a focus on problem-solving and delivery.

The department consists of about 30 employees in Stockholm and is also responsible for the Ministry of Defence's personnel stationed at Swedish embassies abroad.

Your background

We are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree in the field. You have current experience in processing security and defense policy issues at the Government Offices or another government agency responsible for relevant issues for the position. You also have very good knowledge of Swedish defense and security policy as well as knowledge of the authorities within the Ministry of Defence's area of responsibility. You need to be able to express yourself very well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

Experience working in a relevant international organization is an advantage. Good knowledge of another foreign language that the employer considers relevant for the position is also an advantage, as is knowledge of the Middle East or Africa. Furthermore, knowledge of the UN's and/or EU's organization and processes or other multilateral organizations is advantageous. You should also have current experience handling classified information.

Your qualities

You enjoy taking on significant responsibility and working independently but in close collaboration with your colleagues. In your work, you have many points of contact within the department, the Government Offices, and other authorities, which requires a very good ability to collaborate and contribute to the smooth running of operations. At the center of events, you must be prepared for the unexpected, and you are expected to deliver and shift focus quickly, which demands your flexibility. The pace is occasionally high, which requires you to handle stressful situations and have the ability to make necessary prioritizations between different tasks. The position also requires a very good ability to analyze and understand different aspects of complex issues. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Other

Permanent employment or fixed-term employment. Permanent positions always begin with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement. You indicate in your application which of the employment forms you are interested in.

The positions are classified in a security class, and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen but may have a foreign background.
