Join the World's Largest Humanitarian Movement

The Red Cross is the world's largest humanitarian movement, present in 191 countries. When disaster strikes, we are already on the ground helping vulnerable people, thanks in part to 16 million volunteers.

The Swedish Red Cross operates in crisis and disaster response, protection issues, as well as health and care. We have the trust to convert contributions from individuals, companies, and authorities into concrete actions for the most vulnerable.

We strive to save lives and give hope everywhere, every day. Regardless of your role, you contribute – in your profession and through action and courage. Welcome to our world!

About the Position

The Swedish Red Cross runs numerous projects both internationally and nationally. The Operations Management unit's primary task is to create conditions for good decision-making, effective operations, and prioritization of resources in line with our long-term goals. The unit consists of nine project controllers, four business controllers, and a unit manager, with controllers divided into department-dedicated subgroups.

We are now facing the next step in our development journey, transitioning from a department-oriented division to a functionally divided controller unit. We are establishing a group for business controllers and one for project controllers. We are now looking for a team leader for our group of project controllers who can lead the team, standardize work methods, and drive continuous improvement of the project controlling function.

As a team leader, you will play a central role in ensuring that our team works effectively and in line with the organization's goals. You will be responsible for bringing together, developing, and continuously improving project controller-related processes, as well as developing the project controller role together with the team. You will also be involved in driving the division between business controlling and project controlling, as well as the changes needed to prepare us for the implementation of a new modern system support in 2026.

This is a position for both heart and mind.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Leading project controllers in daily work, focusing on supporting and ensuring delivery
  • Developing and improving project controller-related processes and structures
  • Participating in the development of the controller function by promoting a functionally divided working method
  • Driving the standardization of project controllers' system usage ahead of system changes
  • Supporting project controllers in financial analyses and contract interpretation as needed

Education and Experience

  • University degree in economics or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial and operational management, preferably with previous leadership experience
  • Experienced user of the Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Experience in project controlling is an advantage
  • Experience in change management is an advantage

Personal Qualities and Abilities

  • Strong ability and interest in leading and developing teams, with a coaching and supportive leadership style
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, with a drive to improve and develop processes and working methods
  • Analytical and strategic thinker who can quickly understand complex projects
  • Solution-oriented and proactive, with a natural ability to see opportunities rather than obstacles
  • Strong sense of structure and processes, with the ability to create order and efficiency in the team's work
  • Collaborative with the ability to handle different types of people and build strong working relationships

About the Position

The position is a permanent employment, with a six-month probation period, based in Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg, or Umeå, where other employees in the Operations Management unit are located in Stockholm and Malmö. Immediate start.

We apply goal-oriented working hours and flexible work, which means you have the opportunity to work from another location 2 days a week based on work conditions and in consultation with your manager. Some travel is included in the position.

About the Recruitment Process

The Swedish Red Cross strives to be an inclusive organization with employees contributing to diversity in perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds. We believe this makes us more relevant. Therefore, we welcome applicants from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds, gender identities and expressions, beliefs, ages, abilities, and sexual orientations.

Our recruitment process starts with an initial selection based on an established requirement profile with associated selection questions, followed by interviews and, in some cases, online tests, as well as background checks and reference checks.

As the Swedish Red Cross is part of the "Inter-Agency Scheme for the Disclosure of Safeguarding-related Misconduct" to protect our sector from sexual abuse, we ask specific questions regarding this to your references. Final candidates may also be screened against EU and UN sanction lists.

For questions about the position, please contact unit manager Pernilla Stolpe Rudolph at email Pernilla.Stolpe.Rudolph@redcross.se or phone 070-228 52 50. The selection process is ongoing, and you are warmly welcome to submit your application as soon as possible. We do not accept applications via email.

Here you can find contact information for the trade unions represented at our organization.

We kindly decline calls from salespeople offering recruitment-related services.
