Malung-Sälen Municipality has about 10,000 inhabitants and is located in the picturesque Dalarna region, where you can fly to and from our international airport in Sälen. The Land Function at Malung-Sälen Municipality is responsible for the municipality's land and water issues and works for sustainable development of land use. The mission includes management, acquisition, and sale of municipal land as well as strategic work with environmental and water issues. The function collaborates with various actors to promote balanced development that considers both environmental and economic perspectives. Currently, the Land Function consists of three employees with different roles along with a manager. Responsible for electric fishing and liming operations is Marcus Westerlund. The function is placed under the Municipal Executive Board.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Do you enjoy being outdoors and have an interest in conservation/fishing management? Perhaps you are a biology student or studying a similar field? We are now looking for a field assistant for this year's electric fishing, which is part of the follow-up of the municipality's extensive liming work.

As a field assistant, you will participate in all electric fishing during August and assist the municipality's experienced field workers with all aspects of electric fishing such as:

• Preparing equipment
• Assisting during the actual fishing
• Documenting results in the field

This is a temporary position during August 2025, with the possibility to start a few days earlier and potential extension after agreement for a few days in September. The position is full-time for 3-4 weeks during August.

QUALIFICATIONS

To thrive as a field assistant, we are looking for someone who has:

• Interest in biology/ecology/environment
• Ongoing or completed post-secondary education (YH, college, university) in biology, ecology, conservation/fishing management, or equivalent
• Preferably experience in fieldwork and data collection
• Driver's license (B)

It is an advantage if you have an electric fishing certificate and/or have electric fished before, but it is not a requirement.
