Simulator Technician to I 21, Östersund

Main Responsibilities

As a simulator technician, you will primarily work with various simulator systems at the Västernorrland Regiment's Simulator Section.

The tasks include preventive and corrective maintenance as well as some modification and reconstruction based on established guidelines. You will also serve as the contact point for rear maintenance levels and support the Simulator Officer in planning activities.

The position is very varied, and tasks are solved both indoors in workshop facilities and outdoors in the field with the units.

You will be based in Östersund, and the position also includes business trips with overnight stays. Unconventional working hours occur mainly during exercises, when you, together with your colleagues, will act as operational support for the unit and simulator materials.

The position involves a lot of customer contact, which requires you to be service-oriented.

Qualifications

• Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
• Technical education (practical/theoretical) at the upper secondary level or equivalent comparable competence
• Driver's license B
• Good computer skills in Office programs
• Good administrative ability

Meritorious

• Several years of experience with laser simulators within the Armed Forces
• Good computer skills and basic understanding of network technology
• Basic understanding of radio technology and optronics
• Good skills and knowledge of FM support systems technical service and supply management
• Forklift license B2
• C, CE driver's license
• Soldering certificate
• Documented ability in cable and connector repairs
• Military driving license Pb/Llb

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is independent, creative, solution-oriented, and enjoys creating new contacts and collaborating with others. You should feel comfortable conducting certain training situations where you instruct personnel on the relevant simulator equipment.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

In 2022, the Västernorrland Regiment was reestablished with the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, I 21. A new regiment, but with centuries-old traditions in both Västernorrland and Jämtland. With us, you have the opportunity to be part of something unique, the reestablishment of a regiment in Lower Norrland.

I 21 is responsible for the establishment of three war units – two independent Norrland infantry battalions and Military Base Sollefteå. I 21 currently has operations in Sollefteå, Östersund, and Härnösand.

In Sollefteå, we have the Anundsjö Infantry Battalion and the regimental staff, while in Östersund, there is the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps. Additionally, there is a garrison support unit with, for example, training and shooting fields, defense health, and operational readiness protection force, IBSS.

At the Ångermanland Infantry Battalion and the Jämtland Field Ranger Corps, we train conscript soldiers for service in the new modern infantry under our proud motto “From mountains to sea, for the defense of Lower Norrland”.
