We are looking for part-time firefighters for the station in Sorsele

Do you want to join our team and be part of a vital and valuable safety net for the citizens of Sorsele Municipality?

The Rescue Service in Sorsele Municipality consists of stations in Sorsele and Ammarnäs, as well as a rescue unit in Gargnäs. In Sorsele, we have five personnel on standby, divided into four groups. In Ammarnäs, there are two personnel across four groups. The Gargnäs unit includes ten people.

We serve an area with approximately 2,500 residents. The Sorsele Rescue Service collaborates with ten inland municipalities, known as RSR10.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who, alongside their regular job, wants to make an important societal contribution. Being a part-time firefighter means you have a primary employment with an employer and work as a firefighter part-time. With us, you will primarily join a pool and step into standby duty during absences, and eventually join the standby roster every fourth week. The role also includes participating in exercises and training organized by us, which are mainly held in the evenings.

The employment includes two weeks of basic training, with compensation paid according to agreement. This is followed by additional advanced training. You will receive salary during the training periods required to achieve the necessary competence. These trainings can be local within the rescue service or part of the MSB's central training system. It is important that your primary employer is informed about the need for additional training.

Your Qualities

The work can involve shifts with high tempo and demanding physical effort, so we are looking for someone who is self-assured and a good team player. You have a positive attitude and value openness, respect, and responsibility. You are mentally strong, stable, enduring, humble, reliable, and in good physical condition. Personal suitability is highly valued.

Competence and Qualifications

  • Residence and workplace within the emergency response time limit (7 minutes).
  • Primary employer must approve the part-time firefighter employment.
  • Pass physical requirements via tests and medical examination.
  • Ability to pass a valid roller test (offered via the rescue service).
  • Swimming proficiency.
  • Category B driver's license.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language.

It is an advantage if you have any form of fire training, a Category C driver's license for heavy trucks, or previous experience working within the rescue service.

Terms of Employment

Part-time. Permanent position. Start date: Recruitment is ongoing.

Salary

Salary according to the RIB agreement.

Other Information

Those hired who do not have a Category C driver's license will be offered a fixed-term employment for nine months, during which they have the opportunity to obtain their Category C license. The rescue service will partially cover the costs for the Category C license.

Employment starts in the pool. After training and based on needs, you will later join a specific group.

Part-time with standby service every fourth week.
