Do you want to ensure environmental regulatory compliance on a large scale in the energy sector? We are looking for a strategic Environment Manager for a global group in Skåne, where you will take ownership of major sustainability projects such as ISO 50001 implementation and CSRD reporting.

About the role

This is a long-term full-time consultancy position via Academic Work with one of Sweden's largest players in energy production (with good opportunities for hybrid work), starting in autumn 2026.

As Environment Manager Sweden, you will be the bridge between the central sustainability team and the local facilities. Your focus will be on driving the implementation of ISO 50001 by 2027, ensuring the quality of environmental data for CSRD, and managing reporting to the Swedish Energy Agency. You will also act as an expert resource during EU taxonomy reviews and complex legislative issues such as REACH and PFAS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sustainability Reporting (CSRD): Drive and coordinate local work on data collection, quality assurance, and improvement measures related to environmental issues within the framework of CSRD.
  • Energy and Environmental Management Systems: Project manage and prepare for the implementation of the energy management system ISO 50001 for all facilities by 2027. You will also manage external consultancy collaborations (e.g., with WSP) regarding gap analyses and final reports.
  • Authority Contact & Reporting: Be responsible for ongoing contact with Swedish energy authorities. This includes statutory energy mapping, mapping of Swedish facilities every four years, and the annual progress report due by March 2027.
  • Facility Support & Audit Preparation: Support local sites (e.g., OKG) before and during external environmental and EU taxonomy audits, and drive subsequent improvement plans.
  • Legislative Monitoring & Compliance: Monitor and analyze changes in Swedish and European environmental legislation (such as EU REACH and PFAS regulations) and ensure that facilities understand the requirements and have concrete implementation plans.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has good knowledge of working with environmental legislation, compliance, or environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001 or ISO 50001) within the industry.
  • Has good knowledge of project management, change management, or initiating and driving process improvements.
  • Has good knowledge and practical experience in data handling, collection, and quality assurance for environmental and energy reporting.
  • Has good knowledge of new frameworks and directives such as CSRD and the EU Taxonomy.
  • Has fluent knowledge of both Swedish and English, in speech and writing (as the role involves close contact with Swedish authorities and international interfaces).

Knowledge for this role is typically acquired through a higher academic university degree combined with at least 3 years of professional experience in a similar role such as Environmental Manager, Environmental Coordinator, or equivalent. We believe that knowledge and potential can be demonstrated in many ways, and the most important thing for the role is your strong analytical ability, your drive, and your business-oriented holistic thinking.

It is meritorious if you have

  • Experience of having worked in a central expert role as an Environmental Manager, Environmental Coordinator, or equivalent, specifically within the energy sector or heavy process industry.
  • Certification in ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) or practical experience of working according to its standards.
  • Practical experience of independently handling strategic contacts and statutory reporting towards Swedish authorities (such as the Swedish Energy Agency).
  • Experience of working within an international matrix organization and familiarity with leading, specifying requirements, and reviewing external environmental consultants (e.g., during gap analyses for ISO 50001).

To succeed in the role, you have the following personal qualities:

  • Adaptable to change
  • Stress tolerant
  • Goal-oriented
  • Organized
  • Responsible
