Job Responsibilities

In the role of a dental assistant, you will primarily assist with surgeries, perform reception duties, handle intraoral and panoramic X-rays, and carry out patient administrative tasks. On-call duties may be included after a period of employment.

As a dental assistant with us, you have a significant role. The work requires personal interest, continuous learning in the field, and close collaboration with our specialists in oral and maxillofacial surgery, orofacial medicine, and oral radiology. About the Workplace

The Specialist Dental Clinic is part of the Health and Medical Care Administration in Region Västmanland and is located at Västmanland Hospital in Västerås. The clinic consists of our three units: oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, and oral rehabilitation. We provide specialist dental care covering all specialties within dentistry and see patients of all ages. A total of approximately 80 employees work at the clinic.

This position is located at the oral and maxillofacial surgery unit. Here, you are part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of oral and maxillofacial surgeons, ST dentists, assistant dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants. The unit also includes specialists in oral radiology and orofacial medicine. We conduct ST training and research, and have close cooperation with other dental and medical specialties.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a completed dental assistant education. If you have further education as a surgical dental assistant, it is an advantage. We also see it as a benefit if you have previous experience in the profession and have worked in oral and maxillofacial surgical care. Since the role involves record-keeping and communicating with patients, relatives, and colleagues, we expect you to have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written.

You are a secure and stable person. Since the work can change quickly in various ways, we see that you have the ability to be flexible while maintaining your calm and focus in stressful situations. You are self-reliant and take responsibility for your tasks. Since a large part of the work involves teamwork and close interaction with both patients and relatives, you need to be a team player with a sense of service.
