Sala Municipality in eastern Västmanland has approximately 23,000 inhabitants and is the largest in the county by area. The municipality consists of several smaller urban areas as well as the town of Sala, with about 13,700 residents. In Sala Municipality, there are 10 preschools, 12 primary schools (including 2 lower secondary schools), leisure centers, and a special needs primary school.

We are currently looking for hourly substitute teachers who can start working in our schools with short notice. The employment is on an hourly basis and is a so-called short-term substitute position.

As an hourly substitute in the school, you will teach various subjects and interact with students of different ages. The school unit determines the content and the duration of the work shift. A typical school day runs from approximately 08:00 to 15:00, but as a substitute, you may work from a few hours to a full day.

The assignment to substitute at preschools (ages 1-5) and leisure centers (ages 6-12) involves participating in planned pedagogical work and being active with the children. Please note that activities take place both indoors and outdoors regardless of the weather. Working hours at preschools and leisure centers can vary between 06:00 and 18:00.

Job Responsibilities

The assignment involves substituting when regular staff is sick or on leave. You will be part of the substitute resource pool for preschools, leisure centers, and primary/lower secondary schools (grades F-9).

As an hourly substitute with us, you may work as a childcare worker or teacher for children/students aged 6 to 16. The work as a substitute is varied and enjoyable but also carries responsibility, as you may be solely responsible for parts of the assignment during a shift.

Qualifications

The role of hourly substitute is designed for and suits you if you want to try out the professions of childcare worker, leisure educator, and teacher. We are looking for you who are a good role model, can work independently, and feel that you can contribute to a safe environment and encourage children and students to learn. We have high demands regarding punctuality, flexibility, teamwork skills, and social competence. You should also be willing to work at multiple locations. Some tasks may require specific competencies, and we place great emphasis on personal suitability.

• For those we choose to proceed with after the telephone interview, we invite you to an interview/introduction. (You must bring and show a valid extract from the Swedish Police Authority's register of convictions.)
• After the interview/introduction, we decide whether to offer you the hourly substitute position.

Other Requirements

The employment is on an hourly basis. You must be proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written. A driver's license and access to a car are required.

To work within the school system, you must present an extract from the Swedish Police Authority's register of convictions. You can order this extract from the Police, either by mail (which takes about 2 weeks) or as a digital letter.
