Do you want to help create a safe and supportive school environment where students can develop and thrive? We are looking for an engaged school nurse for Önstaskolan!

Your responsibilities

Working as a school nurse is varied and flexible. You will conduct health visits and health talks, including health examinations and vaccinations, as well as maintain an open clinic. You are an important part of the student health team, contributing your medical expertise. Working for student health primarily involves health promotion and preventive work, as well as supporting students' development towards educational goals. With your competence in nursing care, you provide consultative support to the school's other staff in their pedagogical work.

You are part of a professional network for the municipality's other school nurses, with regular meetings for quality development and support in your work. School nurses in the network are also offered supervision and profession-specific competence development.

Your qualifications

We are now looking for you who are a licensed nurse with further education in primary healthcare or healthcare for children and youth, or alternatively, education as a school nurse. Experience working as a school nurse or in health promotion work with children and young people is meritorious. You have good knowledge and understanding of the importance of student health work for a student's development. Experience working with children and young people with NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) diagnoses is an advantage for the position.

You have a good ability to structure and plan your work effectively. You enjoy working outwardly and find it easy to build good relationships, both with students, their guardians, and colleagues in the staff group. In your role, you will collaborate with various professional categories within the school as well as contact external organizations and authorities. The promoting and preventive work is a natural and central part of the assignment.

We offer

Önstaskolan is a comprehensive school with operations from grade 7 to 9, located at Önsta center in the northern part of Västerås. Approximately 450 students attend and 60 staff members work here. At Önstaskolan, there are many adults around the students. Safety surveys conducted every semester show that students are happy and are seen by many adults during the school day. The common cafeteria, located in the middle of the school, is a natural meeting place during breaks. Önstaskolan also has a adapted comprehensive school for grades 7-9.

Additional information

Before you can be employed, we conduct a register check, and you need to present a clean police record extract.

During the interview, you need to verify your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or alternatively a certificate of personal status together with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.
