As the Manager (Förvaltare) of Orsa Besparingsskog, you are responsible for over 60,000 hectares of productive forest land. You lead a business that has created value for the community and approximately 2,000 shareholders for nearly 150 years – where every decision impacts both current and future generations.

About Orsa Besparingsskog

Orsa Besparingsskog was established in 1879 with the purpose of creating long-term prosperity for the community and its shareholders.

The core activity is long-term, sustainable forestry and timber sales. With approximately 60,000 hectares of productive forest land, the forest forms the foundation of the business. In addition, the organization manages several complementary activities, including real estate, cottage rentals, and cultural buildings, which together create value for the community.

Each year, a large portion of the surplus is reinvested in the community through grants for forest care, roads, and development projects. This makes us much more than just a forestry company – we are a long-term societal actor with a clear mandate to develop both the forest and the community.

Around 27 dedicated employees work here, creating value with a perspective that extends far beyond the next quarterly report.

About the Role

As Manager, you are the highest operational leader of the business and have overall responsibility for all of Orsa Besparingsskog. The role is comparable to a CEO role in many respects, with broad responsibility for operations, economy, organization, and long-term development. You lead the organization through the management team and work in close collaboration with the board of directors.

This is not a role where you sit behind a desk all day. One day you work on strategic choices and business development; the next day you meet with shareholders, discuss sustainability issues, review finances, or are out in the field with employees.

You will join an organization with high competence and strong engagement, where an important task is to create a long-term direction for the business. Together with the board, you will shape the future Orsa Besparingsskog and develop the organization based on the opportunities and challenges ahead.

The role involves many contact points. You lead the operations, work closely with the board, and become the natural face of the organization towards shareholders, authorities, contractors, partners, and the local society.

This is a role where business acumen, sustainability, and social responsibility must go hand in hand.

About You

We are looking for you who are a confident and experienced leader with solid forestry competence. You have a good understanding of how the forestry industry works and is run, but above all, you have the ability to lead people and build trust.

You are accustomed to making decisions even when issues are complex and many interests need to be balanced. For you, it is natural to communicate with people at different levels and build long-term relationships.

You are driven by development, see opportunities where others see challenges, and have the ability to turn strategies into concrete results.

We also believe that you appreciate being a visible and present leader. To succeed in the role, you need to enjoy being part of the operations and building relationships both internally and externally.

We would like you to have:

  • Higher education in forestry or equivalent work experience.
  • Several years of experience in a leadership position with responsibility for operations, personnel, and budget.
  • Good understanding of forestry business and conditions.
  • Experience in strategic leadership and business development.
  • Good financial understanding.
  • Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Experience in timber trading, working with boards, or complex organizations with many stakeholders is considered an advantage.
