About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is responsible for providing education for children and young people within the framework of compulsory school, upper secondary school, adapted compulsory school, and adapted upper secondary school. The teaching takes place in small groups in a safe and structured environment and is an integrated part of the treatment and support measures offered within the operations. The education aims to create conditions for each student to reach as far as possible in their knowledge development and to strengthen their opportunities for further studies, work, and a life free from crime.
For the upcoming children and youth departments, we are now looking for a special needs teacher who wants to contribute to giving young people in vulnerable life situations the opportunity to succeed in school and develop towards a functional future.
Job Description
As a special needs teacher, you work with identifying and removing obstacles in the learning environment and contributing to creating accessible and inclusive teaching situations based on the students' individual needs.
The assignment includes:
- conducting pedagogical mapping and assessments
- analyzing students' needs for extra adjustments and special support
- participating in the establishment and follow-up of action plans
- providing special pedagogical support to students in need of support measures
- supervising and supporting pedagogical staff in special pedagogical matters
- contributing to the development of learning environments and teaching methods
- participating, as needed, in the interdisciplinary work of the school health service
- participating in systematic quality work
The work is carried out in accordance with the Education Act and current curricula.
You are also part of a national network of special needs teachers together with colleagues from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's other children and youth operations. The network contributes to collegial learning, experience sharing, and the development of pedagogical work at a national level. The position is located at Rosersberg Prison.
Qualifications
In your role as a special needs teacher, you are a skilled educator with the willingness and ability to motivate, inspire, and lead students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematic approaches. The work is carried out both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, making good teamwork and initiative skills important attributes, as well as the ability to work independently.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your attitude to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree as a special needs teacher with a focus on one of the following areas: language, writing, and reading development; mathematics development; or intellectual disability
- Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
- Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems
The following are also meritorious:
- Experience from working on the IM program (Individualized Program)
- Experience from work in middle school and upper secondary school
- Experience from adapted schools
- Experience from working as a special needs teacher
- Experience in systematic quality work
- Experience in remote supervision
- Experience in working with pedagogical investigations and mapping
- Experience with and knowledge of compensatory aids
