Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced interim manager for a position at a government agency in Nyköping. To be successful in this role, we would like you to have prior experience in management positions with responsibility for employees, working environment, and prioritization. It is also advantageous if you have a good understanding of the government agency environment, legal certainty, documentation, and formal decision-making protocols.

Workplace: Nyköping – on-site 4–5 days per week

Duration: Immediate start, latest by August 24th, with a possibility of extension until year-end 2026/2027 (latest March 30, 2027).

Responsibilities

During the first month, the interim manager should focus on building trust, learning the organization's current structure and ways of working, and handling any working environment risks. You will have weekly reporting to the Department Manager (AC) and HR. It is important that you quickly familiarize yourself with how the operations are currently managed and, together with the AC, develop prioritizations for the unit's assignments and provide suggestions for the correct baseline staffing to meet the requirements.

The tasks primarily involve leading daily operations, managing working environment risks, and, together with the Department Manager, developing a requirement profile for a permanent management solution. Long experience in handling working environment and rehabilitation issues is crucial.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Documented experience in management or clear leadership roles with responsibility for employees, working environment, and prioritization.
  • Experience entering unclear or burdened operations and quickly creating structure, decision-making foundations, and follow-up.
  • Ability to handle employee issues, performance issues, difficult conversations, and working environment risks within given frameworks.
  • Practical experience with SAM (Systematic Work Environment Management), risk assessment, psychosocial work environment, and collaboration with HR/Occupational Health Services.
  • Ability to be on-site in Nyköping at least four days per week.
  • Available for immediate start, preferably latest by 2026-08-24 or as agreed.
  • Good understanding of the government agency environment, legal certainty, documentation, and formal decision-making protocols.
  • Ability to provide a short written situational analysis after 30 working days and an action plan after 60 days.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in operations where legal certainty, prioritization, and external influence play a major role.
  • Experience leading qualified specialists where expertise and management need to be kept separate.
  • Experience implementing meeting structures, case management, follow-up, and common ways of working.
  • Ability to handle tensions within the group without losing objectivity or the employer's perspective.

Advantageous: Background in animal welfare or veterinary context. However, management skills and structure weigh heavier.

Personal Profile: The interim manager should be clear, calm, present, and decisive. The role requires the ability to quickly win the employer's trust, set boundaries, maintain structure, and follow up on results without getting stuck in long processes. The consultant needs to be practically oriented, withstand friction, and be able to work closely with the Department Manager and HR.
