Firefighter for Kiruna Rescue Services

For a living Kiruna. One thing is certain: with us, you make a difference. We are Kiruna. We are the healthcare staff holding the hands of elderly mothers, the teacher helping little brothers read their first words, the childcare worker seeing someone grow every day, and the social worker changing lives. We are personal assistants providing freedom, librarians making literature accessible, and home support staff driving to villages in snowstorms to be there.

We are hundreds of competencies, thousands of people, and generations of experience working together to secure, care for, inspire, teach, save lives, think new thoughts, move cities, support each other, and take care of people. With pride and care. From the mountains to the city. Today and tomorrow for a living Kiruna.

Kiruna Rescue Services currently handles approximately 400 alarms per year, and we need to be prepared for rescue operations ranging from mines to mountains. We look forward to hearing from you!

Job Responsibilities

Our goal is to minimize the number of accidents and their consequences. To prevent accidents, preventive work is the focus. We plan and organize our operations so that rescue efforts can begin as quickly as possible and be carried out efficiently, regardless of municipal borders.

We help and support individuals, organizations, and other authorities to act before, during, and after individual incidents. Therefore, your duties will consist of both preventive work and operational emergency response. Other tasks such as vehicle maintenance, equipment upkeep, and service are often referred to as station work, and these are also part of your duties.

Qualifications

We are now seeking firefighters for the full-time team. We are looking for you, male or female, who are interested in working as a firefighter.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Experience working in municipal rescue services or having completed Rescue Operations or Grib Training (Course 2) with completed training for smoke diving.
  • Completed at least two terms of the SMO (Protection Against Accidents) training or similar training with passing grades.

You must have:

  • Basic university entrance eligibility.
  • At least a B driving license at the time of application and within 6 months of employment (probation period) hold a C driving license.
  • Good physical work capacity according to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's requirements for smoke diving.
  • Completed the swimming proficiency test according to the Golden Buoy (Guldbojen).

These qualities are checked and tested during the recruitment process. It is meritorious if you:

  • Have completed Protection Against Accidents (SMO) or Firefighter (15 weeks) training.
  • Hold a BC driving license.
  • Have had a longer tenure in municipal rescue services.
  • Have other professional experience that could be valuable to the operations.

The role requires you to be outgoing and able to communicate in a trustworthy manner, as the work involves many contacts with individuals, organizations, and authorities during preventive work such as inspections, training, and counseling. You need to have good computer skills and be able to express yourself well both verbally and in writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Before employment begins, suitability tests and medical examinations regarding smoke and chemical diving will be conducted according to the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations.

Required Documents

The following documents must be attached to your application:

  • Certificate of completed education for university entrance eligibility.
  • Certificate of any completed rescue training.
  • Certificate of any completed roller mat test.
  • Certificate of completed swimming proficiency test according to the Golden Buoy.
