Organization Description
No two days are alike at a fire station in the interior of northern Sweden. If you want to work with qualified and varied tasks within both accident prevention, operational preparation, and damage mitigation, apply for this job!
Major industrial investments are underway in northern Sweden, including in Gällivare Municipality, which presents exciting challenges for the rescue service in the dynamic risk landscape we operate in. Gällivare Rescue Service is part of the rescue command system Räddsam Nord, comprising a total of 19 member municipalities stretching from Nordmaling in the south to Kiruna in the north, where approximately 500,000 residents live and work. The workplace consists of approximately 30 employees. Additionally, there are five rescue stations and a contract-based industrial fire brigade. We work for a safer and more secure Gällivare!
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities include both accident prevention, operational preparation, and damage mitigation tasks. Examples of duties include more complex supervision according to the Fire Service Act (LSO), supervision and permit assessment according to the Environmental Code (LBE), handling referrals based on the Planning and Building Act (PBL) or other legislation, accident investigation, and operational planning. You will also work with our hazardous activities (Chapter 2, Section 4 of the Fire Service Act) within Gällivare Municipality, where you will have the opportunity to consider risks and operational preparations for, among other things, oxidizing products, aircraft, mines with underground and above-ground operations, and hydroelectric dams. You are part of the rescue department's management group.
If you are assessed to have suitable competence and based on your personal qualities, staffing for an incident commander function may become relevant. You will be responsible for one of the rescue service's operational areas within our total operations, where you drive development, follow up, and ensure quality in your area. Currently, we are looking for an individual who develops our work with learning after events to spread knowledge and experience locally and within Räddsam Nord. Accident investigations are also included within this operational area. During an interview, we would like to know which area within the rescue service field interests you particularly much. Collaboration within the municipal group, as well as in collaboration constellations within Räddsam Nord, is an important part of driving the operations forward in the collaboration area where you may join project or other working groups that are appointed.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are trained as a Fire Engineer. It is meritorious if you have already completed – or have a clear plan to complete – the RUB (Rescue Service Basic Education).
We are also looking for you who have completed MCF's (Swedish Rescue Services Association) training, primarily Supervision A, Leadership Course for Strong Leaders, or higher leadership courses according to MCF's training structure or other equivalent training assessed by the employer as equivalent. It is meritorious if you have completed Supervision B, as this competence strengthens your ability to quickly take responsibility and contribute in the role.
Meritorious is experience of working within municipal rescue services and if you have worked with building technical fire protection, safety issues, or civil protection. Great importance is attached to your personal suitability. We see that you are responsible, communicative, and have an eye for seeing development opportunities. We also see that you have the ability to work structured from start to finish, good collaboration skills, and a creative streak. You should be proficient in expressing yourself both verbally and in writing in Swedish and English. Within the framework of the National Minority Languages Act, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.
The position requires that you have a Category B driver's license. The position may involve a security clearance check.

- Wellness hour
- Participation in the workplace's Trivselpeng (well-being allowance)
- Membership in GKFF (Gällivare Municipality's Leisure Association)
