About the position
Your tasks will depend on your qualifications and desired employment period, but will primarily include anaerobic cultivation of bacteria, single-cell RNA sequencing, and communication with collaboration partners.
Your background
We are looking for a candidate with expertise in molecular methods and the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. The primary qualification is a lab-based doctoral degree in biological sciences. Applicants with a master’s degree and at least two years of full-time laboratory experience in molecular biology after graduation will also be considered.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is considered meritorious:
- Single-cell RNA sequencing
- Anaerobic cultivation
- Bacterial physiology
- Project management
- Method development
Personal suitability will be an important part of the selection process. Key attributes include the ability to work critically and independently, good time management, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for daily work.
Due to the short-term nature of the position, we will prefer candidates who already live near Uppsala.
About us
The Department of Soil and Environment conducts research, environmental analysis, and education on sustainable land use in both agricultural and forestry contexts as well as urban environments. The work is carried out in accordance with national and international strategies such as food security, national environmental and climate goals, as well as Agenda 2030 and the global goals. The majority of the department's activities and employees are located in the mark-vatten-miljö building on SLU's Ultuna campus in Uppsala, but a research group and a field research station are also located in Skara.
