Job Description

AFRY is looking for engaged environmental consultants who want to shape a sustainable future and contribute to the green transition. At our company, you will find a modern workplace with exciting projects and excellent opportunities for professional development. We are currently seeking a colleague with a focus on contaminated sites and hydrogeology, based in Uppsala or Gävle. You will become part of a larger organization of environmental consultants, where collaboration and team spirit are central.

AFRY's Business Area Environment & Sustainability is present throughout the country, with offices from Malmö in the south to Kiruna in the north. Through close collaboration between different technical areas, we form a strong whole. We work broadly within the service area of environment and sustainability. On behalf of our customers, we handle notification and permit cases, environmental impact assessments and descriptions, cultural heritage analyses and investigations within cultural environments, environmental and nature investigations, water and air investigations, contaminated sites, environmental technical ground investigations, environmental controls, risk assessments, and remediation investigations, as well as climate calculations and sustainability assessments. We also have several different technical forums where we develop each other and share knowledge and experience.

Our customers are found in both the private sector as well as the municipal and state sectors. We also offer our environmental expertise to other business areas within AFRY.

We are looking for you who are an environmental consultant within contaminated sites and hydrogeology. The main focus of the role is to work together with project managers or technical managers within contaminated sites and/or hydrogeology, in the role of case handler and/or field handler. Depending on your previous experience, you also have the opportunity to work as a technical manager or project manager. You will work closely with our customers to identify, assess, and manage environmental risks. Commercial awareness is important, and you will work on projects from planning to implementation and reporting. We value your ability to collaborate and be flexible.

Here, you will become part of a competent team with experienced colleagues both locally and nationally. Together, you will work to develop sustainable solutions within contaminated sites and hydrogeology. You are also expected to contribute to knowledge sharing by training and developing less experienced colleagues.

Qualifications

Our requirements for candidate selection are that you have:

  • An academic, scientific, or technical education with a degree in the environmental field or hydrogeology. Vocational training in environment and contaminated sites is also an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of soil science, geochemistry, and the behavior of pollutants in soil and groundwater.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish environmental legislation.
  • Class B driver's license.

It is an advantage, but not a requirement, if you have:

  • Experience as an environmental consultant within contaminated sites and/or hydrogeology.
  • Experience as a technical manager within larger infrastructure projects, construction contracts, development assignments, mass handling, sediments, or water quality.
  • Good understanding of soil remediation techniques and treatment methods (in situ and ex situ).
  • Experience from preliminary studies or other grant-funded projects.
  • Experience in sampling of soil as well as groundwater and surface water and/or SGF's certification courses.
  • Own customer contacts or the opportunity to provide references.
  • Experience in dialogue with customers and other stakeholders, including presentation of assignments and recommendations.
