Do you want to strengthen the credibility of responsible forestry in the future?

The forest is one of our most important resources – for the climate, biodiversity, business, and people who live and work in the forest landscape. Do you want to work at the intersection of sustainability, quality, societal issues, and dialogue? Then this might be the role for you.

The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international membership organization working for environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable use of the world's forests. FSC operates in over 130 countries and is one of the world's most established certification systems for sustainable forestry.

We are now looking for a Senior Specialist who wants to contribute to strengthening the quality, integrity, and trust in FSC in Sweden.

About the role

This will be a central role at FSC Sweden's office in Uppsala. You will play a key part in safeguarding the quality and legitimacy of the FSC system, ensuring the organization remains a credible arena where different perspectives meet.

In this role, you will work on issues related to quality, system integrity, and continuous development. You will analyze deviations and complaints, drive improvement work, and contribute to developing routines and processes that strengthen the business long-term.

Equally important is the relational perspective. You will build and develop dialogue with FSC members, certified companies, certification bodies, authorities, environmental organizations, and other key actors. The work involves navigating complex issues where different interests meet, and where success is often created through collaboration, responsiveness, and trust-based relationships.

You will also collaborate with FSC's international network and contribute to issues concerning integrity, social sustainability, and rights-based perspectives.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who thrive in a role where analysis, quality assurance, and development work are combined with dialogue and relationship building.

You have several years of experience in qualified work where you have handled complex issues, preferably in environments where many stakeholders need to be balanced against each other. You may come from a membership organization, authority, sustainability function, certification business, or other socially oriented operations.

You have an academic education in fields such as social sciences, environment, sustainability, rights issues, or natural sciences, and are accustomed to writing analyses, reports, and decision support documents. You express yourself fluently in both Swedish and English.

To succeed in the role, you need to be structured and self-initiating, while also being pragmatic, communicative, and responsive, with an easy ability to network and build trust with people from different perspectives. You enjoy taking responsibility, driving issues forward, and turning analysis into concrete improvements.

It is meritorious if you have experience with certification systems, quality or audit work, work with indigenous or rights issues, or international cooperation. Knowledge of FSC is also an advantage.

Why choose FSC Sweden?

With us, you get the opportunity to make a real difference in issues that engage the entire society. You become part of an engaged and knowledgeable office where employees are driven by the desire to contribute to a more responsible future.

We are a small organization with a large impact. This means you get a broad role with significant personal responsibility and the opportunity to influence issues of national and international importance.

We offer a flexible workplace in central Uppsala with possibilities for hybrid work, flextime, fitness allowance, and collective agreement.
