Work as a Housing Assistant in LSS in Östhammar

About the Role

The main purpose of working within LSS (Act on Support and Service for Certain Functionally Disabled People) is to strengthen the individual's opportunities to live an independent life and to actively participate in community life. You will work in a group home and perform most tasks in the users' homes. We work to build relationships and create conditions for an improved quality of life and reduced social exclusion. We work preventively, with low-affective interaction, and based on the individual's needs and possibilities.

Responsibilities

As a Housing Assistant, you make a difference in people's lives. Your role is to support our users in achieving increased independence both at home and in social contexts. You motivate and support them in their daily lives, ensure that their basic care needs are met, and help with household chores and practical errands. The work also involves working based on implementation plans, collaborating with colleagues at your own residence and other residences within the unit, and maintaining contact with relatives, guardians, and administrators.

We are currently looking for several positions, and the scope may vary. The positions involve working according to a rolling schedule with day, evening, and weekend shifts.

We work with "Yrkesresan funktionhinder" (Vocational Journey for People with Disabilities) for both managers and employees and offer competence-enhancing training.

Qualifications and Merits

We are looking for you who have completed and passed upper secondary education in care and nursing or social work, for example:

  • Care and Nursing Programme (Assistant Nurse)
  • Child and Youth Programme with a focus on social work
  • Training as a Support Assistant, or other education that the employer deems equivalent and compatible with the National Board of Health and Welfare's general advice for personnel in LSS operations.

The work requires that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, corresponding to the requirements for legally secure documentation in municipal operations. You must have documented knowledge of LSS, user influence, and self-determination. You must also have good knowledge of digital documentation and IT-based operational systems.

To succeed in the role, it is also meritorious if you have experience working in municipal LSS operations, particularly in group homes, and working based on implementation plans, follow-up, and documentation according to current legislation (LSS/SoL). It is meritorious if you have a B-driver's license and further, it is also meritorious if you have experience with any of the following:

  • LAB (Low-Affective Interaction)
  • AKK (Augmentative and Alternative Communication)
  • IBIC or Clarifying Pedagogy

As a person, you are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You have an interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to find solutions. Furthermore, you are flexible and adapt easily to changed circumstances. You can quickly change your perspective and attitude. Last but not least, you are good at structuring, planning, and prioritizing in your work.

To thrive with us, you should have a genuine interest in working with people, be sensitive to others' needs, and have good service awareness and teamwork skills.
