Kungälv is a growing municipality with ambitions to continue expanding and developing.

The Traffic, Street, and Park unit is responsible for the municipality's infrastructure for movement and green areas on public land. This ranges from the maintenance of existing facilities and minor reconstructions to planning in detailed plans and future developments.

We are now looking for a Street Engineer who wants to be involved in the operation and maintenance of the municipality's streets and public spaces.

Job Responsibilities

The Street Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of municipal streets, roads, and other paved surfaces that are public land.

The role includes participating in the development of framework agreements for the services required for maintenance and upkeep, ordering contracting work, and following up on completed work to ensure it is carried out in accordance with procured contracts.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and follow-up of maintenance work for streets, pedestrian and cycle paths, parking areas, and other public spaces.
  • Coordination and supervision of contractors within operation and maintenance.
  • Conducting inspections and assessments of the condition of streets.
  • Handling urgent maintenance cases and interventions in cases such as weather-related events or damage.
  • Responsibility for cost follow-up within operation and maintenance.
  • Development of strategies and plans for long-term maintenance of the municipality's infrastructure.
  • Communication with residents and businesses regarding maintenance issues and traffic information.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a relevant educational background, such as a university degree in civil engineering with a focus on road and water construction, or alternatively, good experience that the employer deems suitable.
  • Has good communication skills and finds it easy to collaborate with colleagues as well as contractors and the general public.
  • Works independently in planning and structuring your work in an efficient manner and takes responsibility for your own tasks as well as issues solved in groups.
  • Is engaged, self-motivated, and has a desire to contribute to the development of operation and maintenance of streets, roads, and public space in Kungälv.
  • Has a valid driver's license (Category B).

Meritorious:

  • Experience from land and construction engineering, operation of streets and roads, or similar tasks.
  • Experience of working with the operation and maintenance of streets and public land.
  • Experience of working with public lighting and/or management of civil engineering structures such as bridges, quays, and retaining walls.
  • Good knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in the field.
  • Knowledge and experience of contract law.
  • Experience of working with business systems such as BaTMan, GPS tracking, excavation & earthmoving, and maintenance planning systems.
