About Us

As a Business Expert, you play a crucial role in handling interesting issues, both nationally and internationally. You serve as a support resource for the entire Swedish Customs Agency within your area of expertise.

The Revenue Collection Department is responsible for permits, post-clearance controls, and revenue protection, and is one of the Swedish Customs Agency's four operational departments. The department is divided into four units: South, West, East, and North.

 

About the Position

We are looking for a Business Expert within the area of special procedures, which covers the customs procedures of active processing, passive processing, end-use, as well as temporary admission and related questions. The role of Business Expert involves supporting the authority in matters related to the subject area and working internationally to harmonize the application of law as well as legal and policy development in the field. As a Business Expert, you support the authority in each respective procedure, from permitting to customs formalities, as well as regulatory compliance and follow-up.

As a Business Expert, you participate in international meetings and drive Swedish interests in the forums you attend. You support the operations regarding the interpretation of legislation and answer ongoing questions. You take the initiative to and draft materials for governing and supporting documents. You conduct analyses within the subject area and contribute your expertise to various projects and development work. You are expected to participate actively in change and improvement work. Contributing to policy and legal development is another important task.

As a Business Expert, you have in-depth knowledge within the subject area and provide a holistic view within your area of responsibility. This includes, among other things, monitoring and identifying articles in legislation that may affect the subject area. It is important that as a Business Expert, you are observant early in the process of how different proposals may affect Sweden and the Swedish Customs Agency and contribute to shaping the proposals in a way that is suitable for Sweden and the Swedish Customs Agency.

The position also involves communicating internally and externally within the subject area, and you are engaged in educational initiatives. The position includes work with the Swedish Customs Agency's intranet, website, and various types of written guidance. Environmental scanning and collaboration with other authorities and organizations are also part of the role, as well as creating materials for and responding to consultations and statements.

The position entails significant personal responsibility; you must have the ability to take your own initiatives and drive the work forward. You are expected to be positive about assisting other Business Experts within the Swedish Customs Agency if needed, thereby being helpful in other subject areas. You actively share your knowledge.

In the role of Business Expert, it is important that you are professional, collaborative, and have a holistic view within your subject area and across process and departmental boundaries, as well as the ability to represent Sweden and the Swedish Customs Agency internationally.

 

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An academic degree and 3 years of relevant work experience within the Swedish Customs Agency (or other work experience we assess as equivalent) or alternatively 8 years of relevant work experience within the Swedish Customs Agency (or other work experience we assess as equivalent)
  • Experience in investigative work
  • Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English
  • Good knowledge of the Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Meritorious qualifications:

  • IT skills
  • In-depth knowledge within the subject area of special procedures
  • In-depth knowledge of customs procedures
  • Experience in compiling, analyzing, and presenting information
  • Experience in working with policy and norm-setting
  • Experience in developing methods and working practices
  • Experience in international work
  • Accustomed to independent investigative work and interpretation of legislation
  • Experience in consultation and legislative work
  • Completed the Swedish Customs Agency's basic training

Personal qualities

As a person, you are both result-oriented and thoughtful, with a talent for problem-solving and analytical thinking. You work independently, strive for and take your own initiatives for continuous improvement, and are a knowledge resource for others. You are a good communicator with pedagogical skills in both speech and writing.

You are interested in global issues and how they affect our operations. It is important that you are comfortable in an expert role, which may involve, for example, developing clear proposals with recommendations for the Swedish Customs Agency's stance on an issue.

Since the work requires many contacts and dialogues with colleagues and other parts of the operations, we want you to be attentive, receptive, and have an easy time collaborating with your surroundings. The work as a Business Expert involves periods of high workload, and you need to have the ability to prioritize and focus on the right things.

You are accustomed to handling large volumes of text and can quickly identify the essence of the text. You are also good at working according to set deadlines.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

Location: You will be organizationally part of the Revenue Collection Unit West, but you may be located at one of the Swedish Customs Agency's offices in Gothenburg, Malmö, Norrköping, Stockholm, or Sundsvall.

Employment type: The position is a fixed-term appointment until 2028-08-31, individual salary setting applies.

Start date: By agreement

Business travel within and outside Sweden is included in the position.

To be considered for employment at the Swedish Customs Agency, you must meet high demands regarding security and confidentiality awareness, suitability, and that you follow current laws. This means you stand up for democratic values and the public sector values that apply to the Swedish Customs Agency's operations.

Before a decision on employment, you will undergo a drug test and background check. Security clearance with register check according to the Security Protection Act will be conducted prior to employment, as the position is classified.

The Swedish Customs Agency is a total defense authority, and upon employment, you may be assigned to wartime duties within the Swedish Customs Agency.
