Career Counselor for Career Guidance (KVL)

We are looking for you who are a qualified career counselor and who are passionate about supporting adult job seekers on their path to work or studies. If you have experience with the Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen) or other labor market initiatives, we consider this a great advantage.

AKG Sweden is now seeking an engaged and professional career counselor for the Swedish Public Employment Service's Career Guidance (KVL) service. In this role, you will guide people towards work or studies by strengthening their career competence, mapping their prerequisites, and creating a clear plan together. The Career Guidance service aims to give participants increased knowledge about themselves, the labor market, as well as various educational and career paths.

About the Role

As a career counselor within Career Guidance, you are responsible for the participants' counseling process from start to finish. You meet with people from different backgrounds, with different experiences and needs, and help them make well-founded decisions about future work and studies.

The work includes among other things:

  • Individual assessment interviews
  • Qualified counseling sessions
  • Competency inventory and analysis of the participant's strengths, experiences, and goals
  • Information on educational paths, study financing, professions, and the labor market
  • Development of individual career plans
  • Motivational and coaching conversations
  • Documentation according to the Swedish Public Employment Service's guidelines
  • Collaboration with the Swedish Public Employment Service, educational providers, employers, and other partners
  • Participation in study visits and other activities that strengthen participants' opportunities to make sustainable choices for the future

We are looking for you who

  • Have a degree in career counseling from a university or college (Required)
  • Have good knowledge of the education system and the labor market
  • Have good ability to build trusting relationships
  • Have experience in counseling and guidance work
  • Have good administrative skills and experience in documentation
  • Have good digital competence
  • Express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing

Meritorious Qualifications

  • Experience working with adult job seekers and labor market political initiatives is highly meritorious
  • Experience from the Swedish Public Employment Service or from supplier activities within the Swedish Public Employment Service's services
  • Experience in adult guidance, career transition work, or coaching
  • Experience working with people who are new to Sweden
  • Experience in meeting people who need adapted support
  • Knowledge of different industries on the labor market and competence needs
