Description

We are currently looking for an extra tailor and costume assistant for a temporary project-based position, working on weekdays and weekends. You will work with sewing and pattern making for dance and theater costumes, as well as hair styling and theater makeup. Work as a dresser during performances is also included.

At our workplace, you will become part of a positive team with pleasant colleagues. You will work as part of our costume department, which consists of a permanent costume designer and several project-based tailors.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include sewing, pattern making, and working with hair styling and theater makeup. Under the guidance of the costume manager/designer, you will creatively create and refine costumes for the performance activities. Your tasks include maintaining costumes, alterations and remaking, decoration and embellishment, patina work, working on headpieces, and dancewear. Tasks related to props and minor set design work may also occur.

Supervision of dance students and other participants in the performance activities may also be required.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a trained tailor or seamstress with a focus on dance and theater. For this position, you need to have knowledge of dance and theater costumes, and we would appreciate it if you had experience with pattern making for dance.

If you have previous experience working in a theater, it is highly meritorious. Since the students at the Swedish National Ballet School are aged 10-16, it is also an advantage if you have experience working with children.

As a person, you are structured and meticulous in your work, meaning you have the ability to work within set timeframes. For this position, it is also important that you have good teamwork skills and find it easy to work both with others and independently. Your tasks will consist of manufacturing and assisting with costumes and dancewear within the school's performing arts education.
