Regional Laboratory Medicine belongs to Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Area 4, and has a clear coordination mandate for the entire Region of Västra Götaland. The organization consists of the laboratory medicine activities at Södra Älvsborg Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Hospitals in the West, and NU Healthcare.

Description

We are now looking for an employee for the Blood Sampling unit at SU, with the main placement at Sahlgrenska. You will also work at our other sampling locations in Gothenburg as needed.

The business area Clinical Chemistry, of which the sampling unit is a part, is an environmentally certified and accredited laboratory. We at the sampling unit place great value on quality and being the best at sampling and pre-analysis!

Responsibilities

At the unit, which has sampling locations at six hospitals, about forty nursing assistants, lab technicians, lab assistants, biomedical analysts, and one nurse work together. Together, we provide the best possible service to our patients. We primarily perform capillary and venous blood sampling, but also urine tests, glucose tolerance tests, and sweat tests.

You will have many short patient meetings every day. Since we are a university hospital, we also perform sampling for studies.

Continuous development of the operations is important to us! This applies to, for example, what services we can offer, how we can do it, and what help we can get from digitalization. Our working hours are weekdays from 07:00 to 15:45. Since we have the most patients in the morning and forenoon, it is a requirement that you can start your workday at 07:00 every day. We work weekdays and daytime, which means we do not have on-call (OB) or shift work (DRW) supplements.

Qualifications

• We are looking for you who are a cheerful, stress-resistant, and flexible person who enjoys making the patient's care experience a little better!
• The work requires good interaction and communication skills because you will have much contact internally with different care units and with patients. This means you need to speak fluent Swedish and be proficient in writing texts in Swedish.
• You need to have good judgment and be able to independently take responsibility for tasks.
• Other requirements are that you have good and documented experience of both capillary and venous blood sampling and good familiarity with sample handling.
• It is meritorious if you have previously worked at a sampling center or a health center with a large patient flow, as well as if you have an aptitude for learning and the ability to lead others.
