Do you want to help shape the future railway through central Gothenburg?

Geomechanics Sweden AB is now seeking experienced geotechnical engineers for one of Sweden's most renowned infrastructure projects. Here you will have a central expert role in a long-term assignment, working with technically challenging geotechnical structures in Gothenburg clay.

• Västlänken – An approximately eight-kilometer double-track railway for commuter and regional trains, of which more than six kilometers run in a tunnel under central Gothenburg. The project includes three new underground stations at Gothenburg Central, Haga, and Korsvägen, connecting the railway tracks north and south of the city so that trains no longer need to reverse at Gothenburg Central. Stage Central is expected to open for traffic in 2026, while stages Haga and Korsvägen will be completed in 2029–2032.
• Pilekrogen – New siding tracks for local and regional trains in Mölndal, to relieve the tracks around Gothenburg Central. Production start 2026, ready 2028/2029.
• Sävenäs – Conversion of the Sävenäs marshalling yard into a safer and more functional facility for the Swedish freight transport system, including electrification of the Fjällbo tracks.

The role primarily involves acting as a technical reviewer and providing geotechnical support for projects within the Västlänken department.

Your responsibilities

• Review temporary and permanent geotechnical structures, such as sheet piles, piling, ground improvement, embankment slopes, and cut slopes.
• Provide expert support to the construction management during the execution phase.
• Follow up on controls in the execution phase related to issues arising in production.

Who are we looking for?

The assignment covers a team of up to five people, and we are currently seeking several competency profiles:

Senior Technical Reviewer

• Relevant university degree with a geotechnical focus and at least 15 years of experience in geotechnics.
• Technical reviewer for geotechnics in road or railway projects during the last five years, in assignments larger than 1 billion SEK.
• Documented experience in reviewing and assessing FEM calculations for soft clays in assignments larger than 500 million SEK.
• Documented experience in geotechnical investigation assignments for soft clays in assignments larger than 50 million SEK.
• Documented experience as lead geotechnical engineer for deep excavations, at least 15 m, in soft clays.

Construction Site Support / Production Specialist

• Relevant university degree with a geotechnical focus and at least 15 years of experience in geotechnics.
• At least 10 years of documented experience from construction projects in the execution phase.
• Experience with production issues regarding soil and foundation in projects with soft clays, including excavations deeper than 10 m and temporary support structures in assignments of at least 250 million SEK.

Other Team Members

We are happy to receive expressions of interest from you if you:

• Have a relevant university degree with a geotechnical focus.
• Have at least 7 years of experience in geotechnics.
• Have performed control analyses and calculations related to excavations and soft clays.

Additional Merits

• Experience with underwater excavation, at least 5 m, in the construction phase in infrastructure projects in a metropolitan area.
• Experience as a technical reviewer for at least one complex infrastructure project in a metropolitan area, with a scope of at least 5 billion SEK.
