Job Responsibilities

The role of Support Assistant requires knowledge of different functional abilities and what it means to have an intellectual disability. It is important that you have clear, pedagogical, and simple communication skills. Furthermore, it is crucial that you are attentive, responsible, and self-assured. The ability to act with low-affective handling is essential. You must be able to work both in a team and independently. Care work and hygiene routines are part of the job, as well as performing delegated tasks such as tube feeding.

To function and thrive in the job, you need to be able to communicate and collaborate with other staff and guardians, as well as having the ability to plan and structure the day and document in the journal system. The activity remains open according to the families' needs, which means that visiting times may vary. Schedules and working hours change according to the needs of the children/young people, especially during holidays and leave.

Qualifications

It is a requirement that you have education in fields such as social pedagogy, special pedagogy, leisure-time pedagogy, or that you are trained as a nurse assistant, childcare worker, or have other relevant education.

Another requirement is that you have experience working with children and young people with disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders (ND/NPF). You should have the ability to set firm boundaries and maintain established routines for the individuals you work with. For documentation management, computer literacy and proficiency in the Swedish language are required.

A Category B driver's license is also a requirement.

Salary: Monthly salary.
Employment type: Permanent position.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
Start date: 2026-08-17 (Mid-August) or by agreement.
Working hours: Roster/Schedule.

If you are considered for employment, the employer will request an extract from the criminal record register. The Municipal Executive Board has decided that all new hires must present a criminal record extract before employment. The extract required is specifically for work with children with disabilities.
